Lap Band using 1 incision by belly button

Recommended Posts

I was operated on yesterday with only 1 incision. Right by my belly button. Anyone else? If so, how was the recovery?

I have no advice since I still have the 5 incisions. But going into surgery my surgeon told me he was going to try the newest technique of just one incision. Turns out he couldn't do it so I ended up with the 5. Oh well! I would imagine your recovery might be easier than some though I would think.

Wow...one incision...that's great!

I had 2 incisions--1 that is about 1.5 inches long, right by my belly button, and a 2nd that is TINY, maybe a centimeter, just below my left breast. (Dr planned to do just 1, but ended up needing another entry point for the laparoscope.) My recovery was pretty smooth. My doc closed the incision with dermabond, which kind of freaked me out (I was sure I'd laugh too hard and pop it open or something!) but I didn't have any problems at all.

Good luck!

How long did your recovery take? Did you lose all your weight afterward? or with a preop diet? I didn't have to do that. How do you feel now?

I also only had one incision. I find that from reading other thread that my recovery time was the same as everyone else. I am 9 day out and I am feeling GREAT! went for an hour walk yesterday and today. Good luck everyone.

I too had one incission. My recovery was great. I went to the gym like 2 days later and walked on the treadmill for a mile. Only disadvantage is I got hungry quicker than others. Perhaps because I wasn't as swollen.

Cool! I had the two-incision surgery and was really happy that my Dr. was able to do that. I am sure that it really cut down on the post-op pain (plus, I could wear jeans right away, etc.).

I have one scar that's about 1.5 inches, and one wee teeny one above it (there are photos on my blog). BTW, Epiderma is great for helping to fade the scars.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
