Hi Barry, we were banded on the same day, February 9th. I've lost 19 lbs so far. The first 3 weeks were hell for me. My doctor suspects that when I went in for surgery and the tube went down my throat that it scraped the inside of my throat. I had really bad pain for a long time. Plus, it was hell not being able to even drink Water without feeling the urge to vomit. So I had a tough time...but it's better now.

I had my first fill yesterday. So far, still not that much restriction, but I am eating as though everything I eat has the potential to get stuck. I'm scared to death of that.

Glad you're so successful with it, I'm pleased thus far with my results and look forward to more weight coming off.

So far so good, down about 28 lbs after about 4 weeks. The first week was a little rough due to gas pains, but it seemed to pass fairly quickly. My doc wasn’t real specific on what to eat post-op. I stayed on Clear Liquids the first week, thicker liquids the second week and have been on thick mushy stuff since. I find that I eat a lot of ground chicken, refried Beans, scrambled eggs and shredded cheese. Only the chicken has caused me problems and only if I eat too fast. I haven’t had a fill yet, but I have been pretty satisfied with 3 400-500 calorie meals a day. I am losing .2 -.6 lbs per day and it has been pretty effortless.

I haven’t really exercised much, but I know I need to start. I did go on a pretty long bike ride last Sunday that almost killed me. I had eaten my 400 cal Breakfast at about 8am and started the 14 mile canyon ride at about 12:30PM. About 4/5ths of the way into it I was completely spent. Back in the old days I would have had plenty of energy to complete the ride, but now with so few calories in me I just ran out of steam. The lesson I learned was to make sure to have something in me before undertaking something like that again.

Hi, Down 22 pounds - After 4 weeks just moved to soft solids! Really excited!

My doc put in 3cc in the band during the surgery!

No real restriction yet - possible mentally I have psyched myself to feel full after 200 ml or 150 grams of food for each meal?

Hi guys. I was banded on 2/13 and I have lost 18 pds so far. I have felt NO restriction for 2 weeks. But I am trying to maintain small portions and eat according to the plan. I get my first fill on 3/27 which I can't wait. I hope that I feel some restriction then.

Great work everyone. Let's keep each other posted on our progress.

Karen

Hi, I was banded on Feb 2nd. I WAS down about 17-18 pounds. But I have had almost no restriction so when I went in for my first fill yesterday I am only down about 14 pounds. I am so discouraged. I have been exercising, I have been trying to eat less, I have even been doing Weight Watchers on my own because I knew I wasn't losing weight. Nothing is working. I feel like I am stuck. My body doesn't want to let me lose any weight. So anyway, I found out yesterday that I had the Realize band put in and it is a 9cc band. I had 4 cc's put in. I don't feel any different but she said that most people don't after first fills and that it can take a few days for the fill to "settle" in anyway. Also, can anyone give me any advice to help me NOT drink with meals? I find it is such a hard habit to break! I think I drink less with meals that I used to, but how do you get over that dry feeling in your throat when you are eating? How do you fight the urge to drink? Sorry I am such a whiner. I just wantt his to work for me liek it seems to work for so many others.

Hi FebBandsters! I was banded on 2/20/09. I have lost around 21lbs. I get my first adjustment on 4/02. I can't wait. Right now I don't feel like I have any restrictions. I am trying my hardest to avoid my favorite foods cause I know that i dont have self control! Hope that the adjustment helps with that.

Heya Febbandsters! Glad to hear everyone is doing so well! I was banded Feb. 11th and I'm down 37.5 pounds as of this week.

I feel pretty good! I've not had any major bouts with hunger, I'm hitting my exercise bike about 3-4 times per week and making sure I drink a ton of Water. I can officially go on solids this week but I'm taking it slow- trying a few things out here and there. I get my first fill a week from today, so I'm interested in seeing how my appetite (which has been remarkably tame so far) changes.

Overall I'm really happy with the decision and my blood sugar and blood pressure have both also decreased!

Right now I'm just chomping a the bit waiting for my exercise restriction to be over with. I've got an olympic weight set thats collected dust for far too long sitting in the basement and I'm just itching to get back to it. Ah well...only four more weeks....

:tt2:

Hi fabulous February Bandsters!

I was banded on February 10th, and have lost 34 pounds. I went for my first fill today, and it was a piece of cake. I'm pretty needle phobic, so it was a pleasant surprise for it to be so easy.

Debbie.

Hello!

I was banded Feb 4 and I am down about 25 lbs. Or at least I was at my follow up visit. I won't have my first fill until Mar 30. I am getting a little bummed becuase I might be gaining a few pounds back. :tongue_smilie: I don't want to get on the scale until I go back on the 30th. I'm still shocked that I lost that much so fast. I guess that wretched broth was worth it!

I wish you the very best and success!

I was banded 2/16.

Doing great!!! Exercise restriction still hasn't been lifted. Another two weeks to go until then.

However, I have been doing Wii Fit daily, and eating small low-fat meals. I'm down 28 lbs and my BMI finally dipped UNDER the 40 mark.

Had my first fill Wednesday. Doctor wants me to lose 4 lbs in 3 weeks. I say, no problemo!! Bring it on!!!

Love my band! :tt1:

Hugs,

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
