Should I get a fill now??

Recommended Posts

I was banded 10/07 and I'm down about 70 pounds. Admittedly I have not been eating well the last few months and I think I need to get another fill. My DH and I are also trying to get pregnant soon. So my question is... should I get another fill now, only to have it taken out if/when we get PG? The more I could lose before getting PG the better, right??

And one I do get PG, do they take out your fill immediately? Someone told me at the end of the 1st trimester but I thought they would do it right away.

Any pregnancy/banding advice is appreciated!

You don't know how long it will take to get pregnant. Its easy to get a fill and have it taken out so why not do it. The docter will tell you when you should get it tooken out.

If you need a fill, get a fill.

I had a little bit taken out for pg only because I got really tight. I wish I didn't have to now!

I would get the fill. I think the average person only has a 20% chance of getting pregnant each month. If it takes one month or six months, any extra weight lost will help.

You don't necessarily need an unfill unless you get very tight or have morning sickness. It may not be much of an issue at all.

I actually had my last fill after I got pregnant. I just didn't know it yet.

My doctor said there was no reason to worry about getting rid of any of my fill unless I got to the point I could not eat or it was affecting the growth of the baby.

I am under the impression that my obgyn plans on doing monthly ultrasounds to make sure everything is growing okay... which I am prefectly fine with. I am here first band patient and she wants to follow things closely... which I am supportive of.

So, I think if you need a fill you should get a fill. If you later need to get rid of some, then get rid of it later.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
