Why did I do all of this??

Recommended Posts

I am soooooooo discouraged! My last fill they couldn't access my port, the doc said that it is probably just some scarring and will be better next time. Well, last Friday was the next time and he couldn't access it AGAIN! He has NEVER seen this happen. So, I cried, ate horribly all weekend, but then found a happier place and awaited the call to see when I would get the fill done under fluoro. I finally got the call that it will be next Friday. Then, about 30 minutes later the lady calls back stating that the doctor needs to update his info at the surgery center, which might take a few weeks. OR, I can pay $1000 or more to get it done at the surgery. To save $700, I am waiting the few weeks. In the meantime...I have NO restriction, can eat anything that I want, am depressed, am wondering why I went through all of this when I am starting to gain back weight, just like always! I hope that he will be able to do it under fluoro. Ok, I am done ranting, I hope it will all be resolved soon!

Mine is a little tilted and sometimes:lol: they take lots of poking to find the spot but they do. I have lost 60 lbs in one year so it was worth it.

TS, I am so sorry for all you are going through. I have been following your journey because we banded a week apart. I, too, have a huge ball of scar tissue and worry at every fill that they won't be able to access my port. I hope you can hang in there and not gain. Keep posting and best wishes.

Mimi

my fills are always done under fluro and believe me they will have no problem getting to your port once they do that. also try not to get so discouraged because you still may not get restriction after this fill either. i know i am just now getting restriction after many fills and 1 unfill.

Thank you for the encouragement! I know I just need to get through this hurdle, but don't want to lose my motivation and gain any more weight back...I've gained about 5 pounds back, but trying to make working out every day a priority and cook at home!

My first 3 fills seemed difficult for the doc, he was poking around many many times trying to find the spot - I'm talking about 20-30 times! I'm glad he numbs me up first! But this last one, he found it it just a few pokes. So perhaps like me, your fills will get easier over time. There's always issues to deal with, just have to take it in stride and move on. There's no alternative. We aren't going back to the way we were!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
