I don't really have any restriction....

Recommended Posts

I've been reading the posts and totally agree. I am hungry all the time. Banded 3/6 and 3/13 had lost 5 #'s. Who wouldn't on a liquid diet! Still on mushies but today had tuna and mushed up carrots but no weight loss so far this week!! FRUSTRATING!! I have no doubt I could eat anything! Have not had any restriction at all and no vomiting....belching is as bad as it gets.

I have been posting all my food intake on the lapband.com web site. I think it's helping me to keep the calories low and Protein high. If you haven't done it yet, check out the food diary part.

Hey, I know it doesn't seem fair to eat so little and not lose weight, but this stage is all about letting your band heal, not losing weight. I have only lost about 5 pounds in the last month and I was banded 4 weeks ago. If you focus on the weight too much, you will get discouraged and start to cheat on the liquid, mushie, or soft food diet. Follow the rules and the weight will come off and for good this time.

Ashley b its ok to have hot dogs,we were BANDED ON THE same day in i have had ziti so dont worry people make mistakes.

No, it's really not. The reason that the docs have a structured diet (liquids, then mushies, etc) is because when you eat real food, your stomach "moves" (the peristaltic motions and such) when it digests the food. This movement can be VERY bad for the stitches that hold the band to your stomach. If the band doesn't "heal in" properly, it can lead to bad bad things things like slippage later. Follow doc instructions carefully and DO NOT EAT solid food BEFORE YOU HAVE PERMISSION!! It's not just a matter of "oops, I cheated.....I might not lose the weight as quick". This is a matter of letting your band heal. It's very important!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
