Thank You! I am 5'2 199lbs so according to bmi charts between 100-130 is what I should weigh for my height. And I do like the idea of small goals. So I think I am going for 10lbs at a time. I have never been this small as an adult so I don't have a particular size I want to get int,o or a particular weight I want to be at so I just have to go off the charts since I have no frame of reference.

:-) Hope everyone is doing well.

I am under 200lbs !!!! So happy today! And a picture to prove it! I have not weighed under 200 since 8th grade.

I am in shock I still cannot believe it. And my mother was so nice today and came all the way to my work and brought me flowers to congratulate me on being under 200. :-) It was so sweet of her to do. She knows how much it means to me.

:ohmy::w00t::):w00t::):w00t::w00t::w00t::w00t::w00t::w00t::w00t::w00t::w00t::w00t::w00t::w00t::w00t::w00t::w00t::w00t::w00t:

Now I don't know what my next goal should be. :-) Any ideas? What is everyone doing for goals? I am thinking 10lbs at a time so maybe 190. :-) thoughts?

Onederful!

My Dh is buying me a lovelinks bead for every 5kg I lose which is about 11lb so I think mini goals of 10lb are perfect.

Hang in there everyone. Have a fun weekend. I plan to. My blog yesterday was about Second Childhood. Playing with my grandkids has turned me into a little kid again. And I don't eat or even think about food when I play. So for everyone this weekend my wish for you is that you play.

IF YOUR STOMACH OFFENDS YOU, TIE IT OFF

Hello Everyone....I had an awful episode of getting "stuck"....It was an eye opening experience to say the least!...I now know for sure my 2nd fill is working.....I had my 2nd fill 8-4-09, which I got under floroscopy because my Dr. could not find my port :w00t:...2.8cc's. I now have a total of 6.3 cc's in a 14cc Allergen Band. After 2 days of liquids I tried to eat some rotisserie chicken....I thought it was tender and juicy enough, I think I just didnt chew well enough!....Well gang....lesson well learned....CHEW..CHEW..CHEW!!!!...

Oh I have started eating a LOW GLYCEMIC INDEX food diet plan...It seems to be helping...search the net for more info and a list of foods....check it out....

I have lost 8 lbs since my 2nd fill!!.....I am so happy with my band!

FILLS

7/14/09.....3.5cc's

8/4/09.......2.8cc's....total....6.3cc's

Good Luck to all

My proteinfest paid off. I lost lbs before my family reunion on Protein, gained some at the reunion (mostly Water because because of salt content) and immediately lost it back on protein the last two days.

I had my first fill this morning. Fascinating. Someone at UIC invented a device for injecting lidocaine without a needle. The Dr. presses the device against your stomach, it poufs, and the site is numb. I have only one incision and the port is only an inch below it. I could feel the band expanding, then I had to keep swallowing the barium while he made adjustments. Afterwards I looked at the picture of my stomach and he showed me the esophagus, the pouch-which wasn't much wider than the esophogus, then the extremely narrow opening between the pouch and the stomach, and the barium squirts into the old stomach. Very cool! I could really see how I'm going to have to go back to very small bites and chewing food to death. Liquids, of course, for the next day or two.

I think the fill should make a difference right away.

astera, First let me say "Congratulations" and next let me ask "HOW?!" Was your highest weight on your ticker your weight at surgery? Because if it was, that means you lost about 1 lb. a day (the last person I met who had lost 1 lb. a day had had RYN bypass surgery--you had the band, right?). That's a far cry from the "1.5-2 lbs. a week" my doctor advised. What did you weigh on your surgery day?

What "proteinfest" are you talking about? What exactly did you do??

I had no more restriction and wasn't losing so I cut almost all carbs and ate high density Protein (meat, mostly) and a Protein Shake. Only some veggies and flax seed and fish oil and Vitamins to supplement. Lost 3 lbs in 3 days. Then went to family reunion, gained some back, went back on protein and immediately lost it. Still sticking to high protein and am continuing to lose. Not hungry eaither.

The only diet I can lose weight on is a modified Atkins diet. So about the same thing. But for me its so hard to do for life--I like bread and baking. How I modified it was ANY meat, fish, eggs, chez, lunch meat, etc. was free. Most veggies were free (not pees, corn, and potatoes). And then anything under 5 carbs was free for all with in reason (even Dibs ice cream or cheasecake!!). It worked for me but havin issues doing it again. Good Luck!

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
