Hello everyone! I got banded on August 16 and just found this great site!

My lap band took place at a day surgery center without any complications. My pain has been managed with a few doses of liquid tylenol - the last dose was yesterday morning.

I am on a full liquid diet for 2 weeks (6 mini meals each day) and I find that 3/4 to 1 cup quantity is sufficient for me at this time. Three of the mini meals are high Protein shakes (Myocel or Muscle Milk). I will be able to add mashed potatoes, oatmeal, grits, malt0 meal, and cottage cheese during weeks 3 and 4. Then, pureed as tolerated.

Hubby and I went for a walk this morning - 1/2 mile - was hoping to do a mile but, I felt very tired at the 1/2 mile mark and decided not to overdo it.

I lost 8 pounds during my 2 week pre-op diet of 2 shakes and 2 no fat/low carb meals each day. I know I am in healing phase right now and any weight lost is a bonus but, I am really looking forward to weighing in at my follow-up visit on 8/31.

It will be great getting to know you and sharing our weight loss successes in the weeks and months to come!

Hello, fellow Texan! Welcome, and congrats on your success so far! Be sure to find the Texas group in the Support section, also! Where 'bouts you from? LOL (That's Texan for where do you live, for you non-Texans out there!). I'm north of Denton. You'll love it around here; lots of great, fun and friendly people! Cindy

I'm a Newbie from Washington State, and was banded last Thursday. I'm 52 and made this decision because I was tired of well feeling tired all the time. I know it will be great in the long run, but the short run isn't alot of fun.

Having a pretty tough time with gas pains -- way worse than the incisions. Went back to the doctor today and got some nausea meds, and additional pain meds but still feeling rough. I'm loving the weight loss, but I'd really like to feel better soon.

The wonderful support on this site is very encouraging, I'm so happy that I found it.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
