My insurance doesnt require a PCP, yet they require the 6mth diet. My question is will the surgeon do that or do I need to seek out a PCP, my seminar is sheduled for 3/12.

In my experience, the surgeon usually handles that. My 6-month supervised diet was with the surgery program's nutritionist. It may be different, of course; they'd tell you how their program works at the seminar.

Thanks I'm hoping that I can do the 6 mths with the surgeon and not have to comb through my area looking for a PCP.

My insurance didn't require a pcp either. I only had to do a two month diet and had great results. Six months seems like a long time.

pcp? primary care physician?? if so, it would benefit you to have one..you will be asked who ur pcp is all through your journey! plus, it helps to have a set physician for any of your needs before and after surgery.

pcp, means primary care and guess what...They don't "normally" understand ANYTHING about lapbands. When it comes to questions and answers, you will be looking directly to your surgeon and his staff. I had my lapband done at UCSD, for those who don't know, a major hosptial here in San Diego. They have a large staff, who is very involved. I feel and have felt that is the best way to go. Very reputable and worth their weight in gold, information, help etc. If your working with a smaller staff, that's ok also. I just know what I know and that my pcp does not, has not and doesn't plan to practice weight loss surgery and doesn't understand the lapband and any problems that arise from it.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
