I was banded 11/08 and had my first "stuck" situation last night. I ate beef cubes made in the crock pot with beef broth - very soft and I even mushed it with my fork. This was the first time I ate beef since being banded. Now I know what "getting stuck" really means!! I was in such pain for over 2-1/2 hours - Not to get gross, but there was sliming involved and then finally it all came up - what a relief.

Did I do any damage? I definitely "threw up" (sorry for the bluntness) - I thought you couldn't do this with the band???

Do you think I need to call my doc?

Thanks.

Kay

I had the exact same situation with a Triscuit. Let's just say if anyone had seen what I threw-up, they might contact the producers of Alien :)

Yes, it is definitely slime (freaked me out) but it does no damage. I would always suggest calling your doctor to really ease your fears and answer questions, but all in all, I'm sure you're fine.

No one on here is going to suggest you NOT call your doctor; me included. It can't hurt to call them. With that said, you are probably okay. You might want to back up to liquids for a day in case you have any swelling. Your doctor can better advise you.

I haven't been stuck that bad yet, and only twice have I gotten food stuck. Both times were chicken, and both were because I hadn't chewed the food enough. First time I was laughing and accidentally swallowed. I knew before it got there it wasn't going to be good. The second time I wasn't thinking and swallowed my food to answer the phone. I ended up hanging upside down on the side of the road trying to get it unstuck. It was horrible!

Now, I only eat while sitting at the table and I don't eat "finger foods". And, I remembered the rule about cutting my food the size of a nickel and chewing it to the size of a dime! Works great!

Hope all goes well for you!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
