How is everyone doing?

Recommended Posts

I was banded exactly 1 week ago today 2-19-09. I am feeling great. I have lost 8lbs so far. I am eating soft/mushy foods. The problem I am having is having a variety. Does anyone have ideas besides the normal mashed potatoes, creamy Soups, oatmeal, etc.?

Really excited to hear how everyone else is doing.:)

I was banded one day after you!:)

I'm on pureed foods now - I just got the go ahead on Wednesday from Dr. Chau. The pains from gas are WAAAAAYYY better than they were, and I hardly have taken any pain meds. I kinda feel some restriction, even though my first fill isn't until the end of March. The day of surgery I was 266 :tsk:, and when I got weighed at my post-op visit on Wednesday, I was down to 256. I think most of that may have been Water weight because the DAY of surgery was the day my "Visitor" left town till her next visit.:mad2:

I found a really yummy organic cream of broccoli Soup and a Cuban Black Bean Bisque. Whole Foods has a great Cream of Garlic and chicken (WHOO-HOO! is it GARLICY!), cream of portabello mushroom Soup, as well as a great organic chicken broth, beef broth, and vegetable broth. I'm also eating baby food (ham, chicken and beef).

SOOOOO.... So far, so good! SO LET'S GET SKINNY!!!:tt2:

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
