Bariatric Food

Recommended Posts

So, I get my bariatric Vitamins online and I was on a site today called Bariatric Choice. They also sell food specially designed for bariatric patients. Has anyone tried this food? If so, does it work and how does it taste? I'm thinking about trying some. It's fairly inexpensive and it's loaded with Protein. So, if anyone has any advice about this I would appreciate it. Thanks for all of the advice in advance and I hope everyone is having a good day.

My personal opinion is that it is not necessary to buy this food. As you said it is expensive and I am guessing it is probably highly processed with additives and preservitive that you don't need.

Getting the Lap Band is a healthy lifestyle change and I think it is healthier to learn to prepare your own fresh, high quality, Protein and nutrient rich foods at home. As a matter of fact, one of my surgeons rules are to eat food that is as close to its natural form as possible. In other words, fresh meat, veggies, fruits, dairy etc. avoiding food that comes in a jar, box or can. Plus it is easier, cheaper and heathier to cook good food that you and your entire family can eat for life.

...just my opinion, if you feel you need it then go for it and perhaps let us know what you think of the food!

I really like Netrition.com Their shipping is 4.95 for no matter what you order and they have everything you can think of.

What Jodi said! :)

Seriously, you really don't need "special foods".

Fresh, unprocessed foods are really what your body needs.

Also, I would highly recommend reading "The PH Miracle for Weight Loss" By Dr. Robert O. Young, or his original book, the "Ph Miracle". His ideas on eating are incredible, and should be given some serious consideration.

I agree with Jodi. The whole point of the surgery was to be healthier and transition into a healthier lifestyle. Still, it is hard to avoid some of your favorite guilty pleasures, like mine - pudding!! So I indulge myself every once and while by buying my bariatric approved healthy puddings from BariatricFoodProducts.com and they are very good! And this is considering that they are diet food - they still have great taste and more than one flavor - chocolate, caramel, chocolate w/ marshmellows, lemon, mocha, apple custard and my favorite coco mint! I haven't tried them all, but give me time and patience!

Not sure why you are agreeing with me, that is not what I had in mind at all. In my opinion, if you have to have pudding then make it yourself from fresh ingredients and then you know that it doesn't have all the preservitives and chemicals that the pre-packaged stuff has.

Hey Jodi. I do agree with you that using fresh ingredients is always better for the very same reasons. But it isn't always realistic that someone will always have the time (or the know-how) to make everything from fresh ingredients. Like in my case. That's why I at least try to opt for bariatric approved foods.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
