any hear with shoulder pain way after surgery?

Recommended Posts

I had it from time to time but seldom often the first few months, but now, the last couple of months, I'm getting that terrrible pain in the left shoulder all the time. My surgeon isn't giving much support and I'm wondering if something wasn't right with my surgery or if it's just gas related and WHY? Anyone out there with same?

Yes, I had terrible shoulder pain. I noticed it in the recovery room and told my Dr. about it. We waited it out for several weeks. She did some testing and discovered that the tubing was pushing the against a nerve in my diaphragm. She went back in and attached it with a few stitches. I have not had the problem since.

I have this pain when I get hungry. I too was told that something my be pushing against my nerve. I kind of just grin and bear it as it isn't often. If things get worse then I will have them check.

I still get shoulder pain when I eat just a bit too much, I guess the pressure in my pouch causes it. It's a good warning for me that I've taken a bite too many and I better stop. It eases up as the food starts to pass on through but it hurts pretty bad in the meantime.

yes, I had surgery, 3 days ago and my left shoulder aches. My surgeon said this happens often and Tylenol should help. I had the liquid tylenol last night and I was able to sleep. I have percoset but don't want to get drugged up.

I had incredibly bad shoulder pain constantly after my op. I went to my local massage therapist and she suggested Bowen Therapy. I thought it was a bunch of hippy cr*p, but I was desperate and gave it a go.

It worked wonders! The only time I get it now is when I eat too much.

Maybe find a Bowen Therapist and give it a go - nothing to lose except hopefully your pain!

I had pain in my shoulder after my surgery. It lasted about 6 weeks. Someone on this site suggested lying with my arm raised over my head and also to use a heating pad. It helped a lot.

THanks everyone. I've read more on the boards and see there are some still in pain after years. I've got the kind that happens on EMPTY, so rather than skipping meals I'll have to add food. I really like not eating when I don't feel like it. This is not good. LOL.

Thanks all.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
