Let's Talk Movie Review

Recommended Posts

Well Glou, I can't see you and I sharing a box of popcorn at the movies - our tastes are toooo different. I watched Taken, but way too much gratuitous violence, an improbable storyline, bad script.

Yesterday was a Hitchcock day: Lifeboat - 4; Strangers on a Train - 3; Rebecca - 3. I had had high expectations for Rebecca as that was one of my fav books, but it was too different from the book to let me enjoy it.

Saw "I love you, Man" this weekend. Pretty well written and acted. Sounds like a dumb premise for a flick, but a lot of fun.

I also saw "Duplicity." It's pretty much what the previews make it out to be, a con-artist film with the expected double crosses and such. It felt a bit slow sometimes but overall worth seeing. Perhaps a matinee.

Don't make me send Dalton after you, Melly! *Throat grab*

right Glouc?

Seriously, I know it's bad. It's soooooo bad that it's good, though.

:(

LOL, we actually walked out of Last House and ask for a refund, along with about 4 others----not something I would ever recommend, and not because it was gory---just a pathetic remake in my opinion!

Everyone sees things different, this just proves it!

I heard it had a pretty violent rape scene - and that was from DD's BFF.

Nurse Melly - Welcome to the movie thread, where all opinions are welcomed (and the tastes of others are questioned/mocked...by others though, never me!:frown:)

I'm hoping this weekend some good movies are among those randomly selected by DH and myself...watched another bad one last night: The Philadelphia Experiment...great premise, terrible movie. (I hate when that happens, and yet it does sooooo often). 1 on our 5 point scale.< /p>

Yes, Welcome Nurse Melly! :)

LOL - It's funny how many different tastes there are!

re: "I love you, Man" -I really want to see that. It looks like a good bromance movie....will women like it, or is it geared towards guys?

re: "Duplicity" DH and I say it looks like another Oceans 11...are we right?

Last nights movies:

A beautiful mind - 4

Drop Dead Gorgeous - ejected it after about 7 minutes (DSD has such terrible taste in movies; how could such a movie loving, movie aware, movie intelligent man such as DH have such a daughter??)

Giant - 4

OMG are you serious? Drop Dead Gorgeous is in my collective Hall of Fame! ;o) I found it in the bargain bin at Wally World. One of my life's better moments!

I seen Changeling last night. Wow, awesome movie. 5 Stars from me. Not what I expected at all... so sad...

yes indeed, the movie is with Kirsti - which was when the first alarm bells started ringing! I don't know about you two (LilMiss and Luluc)....

Now of course I am really suspicious about Lulu's ratings....

Jason Segel is awesome in pretty much anything he does. I'm sure I'll love that movie. If I ever get to see it. Sigh.

Forgetting Sarah Marshall is his best so far. The wife and I cracked up over the the "dudity" (male nudity).

I loved Forgetting Sarah Marshall too.

This movie seems to have a similar vibe.

Very similar. Just like Sarah Marshall, "I love you Man" is smarter than it had to be for the genre.

Ok, I just came back from "Knowing"

Full disclosure -- I love scifi, disaster, end-of-the-world type flicks. I give a LOT of leeway to these films, you have to buy into their view and mindset.

That said -- this thing SUCKED

It sucked so hard I expected to have a hickey when I walked out. It was so bad it should have starred Bill Pullman, Kevin Bacon and Anne Heche

Just don't. Please. Save yourself the $8 and 2 hours. May I suggest instead Roadhouse?

See Manatee, that kind of review ALMOST makes me want to see it, just to compare notes! But, I won't....

Tonight's movies were:

Spiral staircase - a really old B&W - a weak 3

Antwone Fischer - 3 and a bit.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
