Hi all,

I am 4 days out from having my lapband op and soooo excited to be on the way to the new me!!! :rose:

I am 48, been overweight since 3rd child 10 years ago. Breast cancer treatment 4 years ago put me into menopause and that only added to the problem!

Anyhow, after much research and lurking around sites like this, I did it.

I have restriction from day 1 and have no fill in yet, is this normal? I am happy about it because I have no appetite and feel like I've over eaten badly!!!

I live in Western Australia and breed Welsh Mountain Ponies. My operation was on Black Friday!!!! To me it will always be a 'lucky' day!

I would love to find someone with similar stats to me to buddy up with? Anywhere in the world is great.

I'm 5'7", starting weight 214lbs, goal 140lbs

Hi jamiru, welcome to lapbandtalk. Unfortunately, we have very little in common physically, so it'd be difficult for us to "compare", LOL. Good luck!

Hi, I was banded in 2007. I am 31 now. my starting weight was 213 I am 5'5. It took me 10 months to get lose 75 pounds. My smallest weight was 138 and everyone would tell me "Oh your so skinny" LOL, never thought I would hear that. Well its a struggle let me tell you. You really cant rely on what others tell you. You have to know your body and really listen to it. Only you will know when you need a fill cause ur eating too much or when you need an adjustment meaning gettin some taken out cause you cant hold anything down. I am now 173 and I feel like I am eating more than i should, so I have an appointment for a fill on Monday. Just take it day by day. Do your liquids, and follow the diet. You dont want to irritate your stomach by eating the wrong stuff cause it will be uncomfortable.. Good Luck

Congrats on getting banded. For me after surgery I felt like I had a lot of restriction. I was told this is from the swelling. After about 2 weeks thats when I noticed my restriction becoming less and less. I kept on measuring my food 4 oz a meal regardless if I felt I could eat more. It was tough but I got through it. Fortunatelly I got my first fill 4 weeks out. I am one of the lucky ones that always feels restriction after a fill. Then I lose some weight and get loose again. Thats part of the process. Good luck and follow your docs instructions to the letter. :tongue2:

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
