Like many of you, I am sure, I have tried every diet and exercise plan. Most have worked... but of course, the weight just comes back on when you stop. I started thinking about the LB procedure November 2007. I decided to try one last diet program. It was great! Lost 40 lbs but I deprived myself of sooo much and was working out like a maniac and became so overwhelmed and exhausted... and low and behold, I am now heavier than when I started. Grrr!

I am 28 years old and thankfully do not have any health problems. I want to end this cycle before any start.

I went to a seminar today and have my diagnostic appointment on Friday 2-20. I am nervous, but I think this is what I need.

Any pointers, words of wisdom or advice? I could use it!

Welcome!

I would say that you need to be very comprehensive in your selection of a Surgeon. You said that you went to a seminar; go to a few more. See what else is out there.

Find the BEST Doctor you can, someone who has done hundreds of these procedures. Someone who will let you speak with his/her other patients. Check the surgeon's background, his schooling, and EVERYTHING you can find out about him.

Make sure you have the best.....it's YOUR body....It's worth taking the time to make sure you are getting the right person for the Job!

Thank you! I have been doing a lot of research on this. I plan to look into more like you said. How have you been since you had your band removed?

Actually, I have done very well, thanks for asking!

I had a very, very bad experience with the band.

I spoke about it here last year right before I had the band removed. My comments were not recieved very well by this community. Many people here think I'm a "band-hater", but that is not the case. I just had a rotten experience, and I want to make sure that people know about the risks involved, and what COULD happen.

My feeling is that it is SO important that you find a surgeon that is BEYOND competent. He/she needs to have hundreds, if not thousands of LB surgeries behind him before he does his work on me.

It is also important that the patient follows the surgeons instructions to the LETTER post-surgery.....and, I don't believe that all of the Surgeons give very good instructions, so needs to be part of the Selection process....you need to know that you are being cared for properly beofre, during, and after the surgery.

If you want to know more about my experience, feel free to PM me. I don't talk about it out in the open here, because I usually get attacked for describing what was a very real series of events in my life.

Hi Headhunter. Sorry it has taken me soooo long to reply. I would love to hear about your experience. I am not sure how to send a PM though. Can you send me one?

Thanks!!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
