Please--need Kick In The #@*!!!

Recommended Posts

Estela,

Now its my turn to give you a kick in the arse!!! LOL. I understand the need for comfort food when you are in pain. The first 10 days post op, I have not been very hungry even though I had an partial unfill and have little restriction at the moment. But the hunger is coming back with a rage and I am fighting the monster. I feel my pain from the PS justifies my poor eating decisions! LOL. Last night I had chips with turkey chili, then I had some more chips with cheese and sour cream. I am trying to stay away from the sweets though. The Protein in the turkey chili was good for me though, so I am not going to beat myself up too badly. Stick to the solid Protein and you will do just fine. Make sure you have a chicken breast in your pocket at all times! Ya hearing me????Allow yourself some treats like sugar free pudding, some popcorn etc... PUt together a meal plan that will allow you to maintain your present weight. Dont be looking to lose right now. But you do need to make healthy food choices. I went out to dinner and had some Soup and a huge salad with hard boiled eggs croutons and real Salad Dressing. In the past, I would have been sticking to the balsamic vinegar and the ff dressing. Now, I need the energy boost, so I am not beeing too hard on myself. Just stay away from the donuts OK????

Hugs,

so relieved to see this seems to phenomenon many of us go through! i just had first fill today and am glad for it (surgery early jul)... because last two weeks was madness for me. was eating all solid food i can lay my hands on! ate kfc twice, risotto w foie gras.....was stressing out but could not stop myself...fortunately, scale in my favor - cos i realized tho i felt like i was binging, i still ate much less than i used to before surgery.......so i am glad to see veterans like you...going through the same thing....and are still going strong to meet ur goals....

Dear Everso,

There really isnt any secrets I am afraid to say. I beleive that regular exercise was a component that attributed to steady weight loss. I exercised 3x per week during ongoing weight loss. Stick to eating lots of Protein and drinking lots of Water. Right now I feel like a bloated pig from all the Water retention due to the surgery I had. My legs are really swollen.!!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
