15 pounds lost on preop diet with this product.

I like it, some people hate it.....will it work....of course in the short run, in the long run....only if your willing to live on them forever....almost no one is.

I love slimfast shakes. I eat them for Breakfast and if I am in a hurry for lunch or dinner. I don't use them twice a day usually, though. I just don't like to get too hungry since I have been banded. food doesn't go down fast and it's hard when you get really hungry.

I know some people who use them as a regular Protein shake and not as a diet program.

For me, they don't have enough Protein. Plus I haven't found a RTD shake yet that I can stand. I want to have closer to 30 g of protein per drink. But they really are low carb and the fats are on the high side, but that's okay for me because I don't consume a lot of fat and rarely go over my allotment.

I've used the Slim Fast Low Carb chocolate drink since I had surgery in 2005. I get them at Sam's Club. 2 carbs and 20 Protein. It works for me when I need a quick Breakfast or extra protein. I happen to like them better than any other Protein Drink, plus it's already a liquid and I don't have to fuss with mixing it up.

OK, so I like the taste of these little guys....BUT~

They give me diahrea:ohmy: I am sad about this as how conveinent they are. Apparently a LOT of the pre-made stuff does that to me. That stinks for convenience, dont it....

Oh how sad. I haven't had that problem. But I do know that I sip on the 12 oz can (180 cal, I think) all morning. Or if I use it as a snack at 10 am, it's gone by lunch. I really like the Boost-(8 oz w/ 15 gm. protein) but it's so high in calories (240) that I hesitate to get those unless it's that time of the month and I'm really tight. (I know TMI)

Pre-op I found them on sale, went a little nuts and bought 140 cans. That was last October and I am just finishing them now, LOL. They are so handy and the taste is acceptable. I always take a can with me in case of hunger crisis, just pop and drink.

OMGosh! 140 cans? That is too funny, lol.

I use them from breakfast. I like them. They are a little thicker than the Atkins ones (which I like too- mocha latte is good), but it doesn't bother me. Those who have "texture issues" may not like them though. They only have 20g of Protein in them, but I get plenty of "real" Protein throughout the day, so it's not an issue for me.

It is funny, Georgia Girl. I am a little OCD and when I find something I like I go a bit (hahaha) overboard. I agree with you on the thickness of the shake, now others seem too thin and watery to me. I like knowing I am getting so much nutrition per can.

I didn't realise that they were any good at all, I always thought that they were a clever marketing tool.

When you have two a day, how do you balance your other eating. I am diabetic and am advised to hit Proteins but if I eat eggs, I find the Protein rush disagrees with me also

I like them better than other low carb Protein Shakes. They are very handy in a pinch. I drank a lot of them during my 2 week pre surgery diet. I'd rather have real food, but there are times that they are useful.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
