Perth bandees

Recommended Posts

I would love to chat to others for support and story swapping. I am in Perth and being banded by Dolan on the 20th. Would love to hear any advice you might have.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Deb

This is the first Forum I have EVER done so hope this reply gets to you. I was banded by Dr Dolan 3 years ago and he was brilliant. I couldnt be happier. I have lost 64 kilos and have maintained for 1 year now. I was 131kg and now weigh 67kg. Still a foodie but the confidence it gave me is unbelievable. For me just walking down the street and feeling different is the main thing for me. It wasn easy by any means. The first year especially took a lot of getting used to what foods I could eat and unfortunately a bit of vomiting when trying to eat meats ans breads etc,, I was banded under Medicare out of Joondalup Health Campus and Dr Dolan even gave me a referral to have the loose skin on my tummy tucked (3 kg) and that was also coveredby Medicare. I cant believe the difference it has done. I still have terrible loose skin on upper body, arms and legs but it is a small sacrifice compared to what i used to go through. Do you have family and friend support? This helped me alot. I wish you all the best. Jeanette

Hey i am being banded by Dr Dolan soonish im on the public waiting list and i see him in may again which will be a yr. It was cool to read that Dr Dolan gave you a referral to get a Tummy Tuck covered also my medicare because i thought that i would have to get private health insurance and have to come up with alot of money to get a tuck done. I didnt think medicare would cover it?

Hi Charliemc

Yes mine was fully covered by medicare but that was well over a year ago now and yes apparently it is quite hard to get done under medicare but it still can if it the excess skin causes physical or mental pain! I need another 4 operations but cannot afford it and do not have private cover. It may be worth speaking to Dr Dolan after the operation is you experience a lot of skin. I have lost 64 kilos and have been very big from a young age. Hopefully you will be one of teh lucky ones bu just having the lap band and keeping my weight off is like winning lotto - all the best for your operation:redface:

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
