Couldnt' Find the Port

Recommended Posts

Well, I went for my first fill, after waiting patiently for 6 weeks, just to have my doctor (not my surgeon), at a fill center, try 4 attempts without success. (Wonder what could cause this??)

He is sending me tomorrow to an imaging center with flouroscopy to have it done. Will this be a nerve racking as the first one??

Anyone else have this same thing happen, and what were your results. He actually said this would be better, because the likelyhood of getting it filled almost perfect would be much better???

Any suggestions or comments?? Need some quickly...

my sister had her first fill done using the flouroscope, if you have lots of belly fat sometimes it is hard to find the port...and I got to watch her get hers done..so hang in there Coingirl, it will get easier..carol-WA

I am getting my first fill tomorrow under fluoroscopy. I am really excited!

I watched a video on you tube that showed it being done that way, and it looks pretty cool. It is supposed to be much better that way. Able to get to the green zone much quicker.... and that is definitely where I wanna be!

Good luck!

Thanks! You can obviously feel it and see it , but said that it may be at an angle.

I was disappointed, but hoping for great results tomorrow~

I got my fill today under x ray. Got 7CC!

I was shocked. don't remember reading about anyone having that much at the first fill. But I could be wrong.

It was very fast (about 5 minutes) and totally painless. It was pretty cool seeing the barium Fluid and Water going through the stoma. It was very small, but went through without any problem.

WooHoo!!! Let the weight loss begin!!!!

Hope yours goes as well.

I got my first fill today. 90% of my fat is in the stomach so it was hard for her to find the port. We did it using fluoroscopy and it still took over 30 minutes for her to find it. She ended up adding 3.5 cc so I hope it was worth it. I look like a pin cushion and am sore but I know that it is so worth it. I was down 15 lbs. on their scales and 20 on mine. Either way it's going down and that's what counts. I hope the next time it goes smoother and faster.

Hi. I went for my first fill after waiting 7 weeks and my dr. couldn't find the port and he probed around two separate times. I went a week later to the hospital for fluoroscopy and it was a breeze. However, the dye I had to drink did affect my lower intestine, if you get my drift. I only got 4 ccs....I'm jealous. I wish all of mine could be under fluoroscopy.

Just a quick message to let everyone know that I did have my first fill under fluoroscopy. It turns out that my port is in a weird position. At least now I know what route to take the next fill. I have a small band (4cc) and was able to get 2cc's. The first day I felt alot of restriction and now not as much. Is that normal? I really dont want to push finding out how much I can hold, just on the off chance its more than I'm eating. Thanks everyone for your support and encouragement! Let the weight loss begin!

I had my first 2 fills under flouroscopy, and had a choice to have it done in the office or at x-ray. I chose x-ray. I want them to see where they are going and I want them to watch the Fluid go down the stoma so I don't risk being over-filled.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
