How much is a fill in your area?

Recommended Posts

It seems to vary a LOT. Here are some prices I have been charged in Kansas (all different docs):

$150 per non-fluoro fill

$250 for first fill, $100 per fill thereafter (no difference in price for fluoro vs non-fluoro)

$20 per non-fluoro fill (got grandfathered in on this one ... now this surgeon doesn't do fills for patients he didn't band)

$60 per non-fluoro fill

I hear one surgeon in Kansas charges $1,200 per fill (including fluoro because he does not do non-fluoro fills).

I will go back to MX because here in Durham, NC fills are $400!

Sheesh!! Remind me to get a fill before I fly to SC for Christmas LOL.

My fills are covered by medicare/private insurance. I'm in Australia though. Not sure if there is a time limit or number of fills you can have before you have to pay or not. I've only been banded just over 5 months so far.

I found a doc in Winston Salem NC who does non-flouro for $200. Flouro fills are $300 for the doc plus another $250 plus for the hospital, yuck! I plan to go back to MX for a flouro fill some time n the future when my sister finally decides to get her band surgery done with Kuri. I just wanna see it!!

OH! And unfills at my local doc are also $200. Double yuck. But I'm grateful he will fill me so I suck it up and don't complain and make my fill WORK! Good luck!

It sounds like fills are a heap more complicated in the states than here LOL. I go into my doctor's office, have my fill and am back out in 5 mins generally. I'm not charged by the doctor, nor by his office. He doesn't do flouro - I'm not even sure what it is to be honest? But he's never missed and I've been very happy with the results thus far.

I've not had to pay for an unfill either.

I'm assuming that it's so different because its relatively new in the US? My surgeon has been doing it for over 7 years now and works with the group here that has done all the research for banding. From my understanding (and often, I don't understand lol), gastric bypass is pretty much unheard of here, as its just not done - banding is always the first choice.

I have a year of fills included in the price of my surgery, but I think they are like some ungodly amount like $300. Yes, everything really is hella expensive in California.

I haven't had my first fill yet (the 17th, yay!) so I don't know if they do them under flouro. I somehow bet they don't.

I'm a little burned at the lack of customer service at my dr's.

I didn't have Professor O'Brien, because I didn't want to wait that long (he's the most popular in the practice). But from what I've been told, he's the best you can get.

That said, I was extremely happy with Mr Crosthwaite. I saw several surgeons before making up my mind who I wanted to use and was quite pleased with his professionalism and honesty. I gave him a right good interview on my first consultation lol, even asking what made him want to do banding and such.

You'll like the Avenue - its a nice hospital and the staff at the Clinic are fantastic :)

Good luck!

I still have a referal to Gary Crosthwaite on the kitchen bench. I ended up with two referals because he no longer consults at The Avenue and the only option I got was Coburg (a nightmare from Berwick) or at Cotham Private in Kew. My appointment with him is next week, so even though I didnt see the other guy in Frankston yesterday, I still have a last chance next week if I decide to go. But I'd be relying on him to consider it "medically necessary" when if I'm honest its only "cosmetically necessary", lol.

Yeah, now when I'm there for my fills, I see Dr Baquie. Mr Crosthwaite was great though - hey, I'm still alive LOL.

I didn't think it would be medically necessary either, but after I went in, they sent me for a respiratory test, then a sleep test. Found out I have sleep apnoea, pretty severely as well, which was all of the co morbidity I needed. Other than that, I was healthy as a horse - and as big as one heh.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
