Fills, local care for Mexico patients in PHX, AZ?

Recommended Posts

Anybody know of a doc in the Phoenix area that will do local care (fills, etc) on us cats who receive the band in Mexico? I live on the east side (Mesa), but I would even take Tucson, Flagstaff, or somewhere like that where I have to drive if necessary.

Thank you!! :)

Hi Angel!!! Another Arizona bandster!!!!!!!! YEA!!

My surgeon is in Flagstaff. I am not sure if he takes Mexico bandsters or not but will PM you his number. You can talk to his Nurse Nancy Scott.

For fills only-- Wendy Hall, RNC MS She has the band and is trained to do fills. she did one fill for me and did a super job. (better than my surgeon) She is in Heber and Snowflake but she comes to the Valley once a month to do fills. I know of many many bandsters that go to her. She does not use flouro.but Her and her asst. Tammie do a wonderful job.

Jenna(princess-in-theP) is a Mexico bandster. She lives somewhere down in the Valley. You might want to PM her to see if she knows anyone down there.

Good luck and I will PM you soon.

someone mention my name???? My ears were burning.... :)

I responded to you on Dr. Ortiz's message board but I will again here in case you don't read that one.

I have called every band doctor in phx. No one will touch me. And I even have health insurance that will pay for a portion of it. I called everyone that is evenly remotely associated with banding and weight loss. No luck. Even if they would fill me they don't do it under flouro unless they get BIG bucks.

There is 2 options I know of.... 1. The WISH center (my dog knows more about the band than these people, they are IDIOTS!) 2. www.fillcenterusa.com (they are building a center in late september, don't know their costs and don't know anything about them yet) 3. Go back to Mexico. It is only a 50 min flight and $98 round trip. It costs me $218 total to get filled there. It is WAY cheaper than getting flouro done here. So for now... my vote is grab a quick cheap flight to San Diego and go back to Dr. Ortiz for the fill.

My aftercare is Dr. Ortiz. Since it is only a 50 minute flight and the flights are only $98 roundtrip even last minute purchases, he is my aftercare. With driving in Phx area it is like having a doctor on the other side of the valley. Within an hour and 1/2, I am there! Frequent flyer points are a bonus. :D

I have a name for oyu - Wendy Hall is in Mesa and does fills on Mexico banded patients. Her number is 928-536-5377 and she is located at 1919 East McKellips. The cost for a fill is $100 without fluoro. I also have names and numbers for three others - in Scottsdale, Tucson and Lakeside, but figured since you're from Mesa, that name would work best for you. Let me know if you want the others. daniela.gula@pfizer.com

Hey there!! Congratulations on your decision to have surgery Angel & to use Dr. Ortiz. I live in AZ too & had my surgery 6 weeks ago. I am from Gilbert. I contacted Inamed & they told me that Dr. Simpson would do fills for patients who had their surgery done in Mexico. I found out that Dr. Ortiz trained Dr. Simpson on the lapband surgery. If you look at the pictures on www.obesitycontrolcenter.com you will see pictures of Dr. Simpson & Dr. Ortiz together!!

I went back to Dr. Martinez for my first fill & have not contacted Dr. Simpson at all for a fill. However, I wanted to have a name incase there was an emergency.

Has anyone contacted Dr. Simpson personally & they told you no?!?! Now I'm getting curious.

Good luck Angel!! You are welcome to contact me personally if you'd like.

Hi everyone, I am a new AZ bandster, since we seem to have problems getting fills perhaps we could car pool to TJ? Just a thought

johnette

Ps- recieved this reply from fillcentersusa

Our Arizona locations should be opening November 7th. Our prices are $299 for your first consult and fill then $155 for each additional. Or we will have a monthly plan that you can pay (around $95/mo.) and get monthly follow-up visits and 4 fills a year. This is recommended for best results. Or if you do not want to become a member and just want one fill you can pay $214 each fill. You can look over the rest of our program and a little more of what it will Intel on our website at http://www.fillcentersusa.com/fillcenters.html

I just got back from Betancourt Medical in Tijuana, and had a double fill. I had the first one on Saturday and the next one on Monday, and boy is it great. I lost 7 pounds the first week!!! It was the easiest fill I have ever had, and I was treated like a queen for the four days I was there...Its a new procedure they are doing and so far so good.

Can you tell me more about the double fill?

I had my banding from Dr. Kuri on 8/25 and am going back for my first fill next week.

Hi Terry,

I don't know what you are referring to when you say "double fill". I haven't heard that term before. Can you explain?

I know I'm a little late in the game, but I'm looking for a place to get fills in Tucson. The number I have for Lorna Reisner is no good, and I'm hoping not to have to travel to Phoenix... although I will if need be. Are Wendy Hall and Lorna Reisner it? Thanks for the info!

Lizzie

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
