Long time banded but am I too tight???

Recommended Posts

Question out there: I've been banded for about hmmm.... 3.5 years now and reached my goal weight awhile ago. I do fluctuate between 3-8 pounds, but I basically stay the same now. But I have a little dilemma now:

Maybe I forget I have the band and eat too fast, but I feel like I get stuck all the time. I rarely throw up, because I seem to have figured out how to choke it down, but I don't know if I should get an unfill or not. I seem to be able to eat a decent amount of food (like 1.5 cups), but sometimes I get stuck often. I don't get it. I don't get full until I've eaten 1.5 cups, but it takes me forever to eat! Any suggestions? I really don't want to gain this weight back.

I think I've picked up that nasty sugar habit again. Damn. I hate cold turkey, but you gotta do what you gotta do!

Congratulations on your weight loss! I saw your pics and you look fabulous. :w00t:If I lived close I would call you plastic surgeon in about a year.

If it is already taking you a while to eat, you may be taking bites that are too big. For your next few meals consciously take smaller bites and see if you still feel like you are getting stuck. If so, I would go get a tiny unfill. I mean like .25cc. I read people post who go up and down a small amount in fills/unfills to tweak their band and keep it at the right place. If you stay too tight, you will probably turn to the slider/sugar foods more. You have come too far and look too incredible to stop now.

Congrats on your success! You look awesome! I second what PP said. Slider foods= too tight. Look at your regimen and you'll know if you are relying on sliders too much. I got MUCH too tight a few weeks ago and was worried I had a slipped band. After confirming there was no slip, my doc took .4 ccs out of my VG Band and I was good as new... I cat eat again, and no more sliders for me.

Puddin, perhaps a slight unfill will do the trick. If you feel that you are consuming to many calories then you can always adjust.

Congrats on all the weight loss! You are awesome!

Good advice. I'll maybe get a .1cc unfill. though I just got a fill a few months ago! It's $75/pop every time I need a fill or unfill and that's the biggest thing keeping me from getting one. Maybe I'll just bite the bullet.

Have you had that annual scope exam to check out your band just to make sure everything is a-ok?

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
