that sounds like a great idea, we are all in such different stages, it would be nice to have different perspectives on the whole procedure.

Let me know if and when you guys want to do this - I think it would be great to meet for lunch on a weekend. (look at me trying to bring food into this! geez!)

I know I could really use the support from others that are and will be going through the same thing!

I have no life! LOL!! I really need to break away from my comfort zone anyway. All week it's work & kids, then the weekends come and it's shopping for the next week, cleaning house and laundry. It's like the song that never ends!

I'm sure it will go well. Maybe take a list of questions with you if needed.

I go in on Wednesday for my second fill. I really hope I feel some restriction with this one. I've been struggling this month!

Talk to you later...

Hang in there! It's so hard when you don't have restriction! I go in on the 27th for another fill. I'm hungry again! I'm hoping I don't gain too much between now and then!

Take care!

Well, I went for my second fill today and I had only lost 3 lbs since the last time he had seen me. He didn't seem too concerned, but did give me a hard time about exercising. I had been doing so well, but I stopped once it started getting hot. I gotta get back on the right track!

Jenny - let us know how tonight goes for you!

Michelle - I hope your next fill works for you. How many cc's do you have and what size band? I now have 7.5cc's in a 14cc band.

Take care ladies!

You ladies are going to love this; no more 20 week class required, they offer an optional 10 week class only. THe seminar tonight is mandatory and I just need to get my PCP to refer me for surgery and the surgery dept handles the rest. There is no waiting list for surgery. She said she has some folks getting surgery before they even finish the 10 week optional class. You know I will be emailing my PCP tonight to get that referral. NO weight tonight, she said they will use my weight from my last dr visit or if I take the optional class she weighs there and it gets documented as starting weight. I dont' want to wait till class starts July 2nd to get weighed, think I will make a apt w/PCP to get a current weight, I have gained since my visit w/her in April. She said they are revamping the WLS procedures, I like the changes. I guess things are definetly looking positive for me. I really appreciate all your encouragement, look forward to keeping in touch as the ride continues. Hope the fills help, take care ladies

OMG you are so lucky! I'm in the So. Calif. Kaiser Options program and they still require the 24 weeks of classes. I'm only on week 4 and it is very discouraging that I have to wait so long. And we've been told the waiting period AFTER the program is up to 3 months before surgery gets scheduled.

I suppose I can hope for a revamp like yours is doing, but it doesn't look likely..good luck with your PCP!

Jenny - that is such great news! Do they still require a percentage of weight loss before they do the surgery?

mb20mom - the time will fly by and is well worth the wait! Just keep yourself busy!

I emailed my PCP at 9pm last night and she emailed me at 1pm today that she sent to referral to surgery and gave me thier phone # to call if I don't hear from them soon. I love my dr !! I checked my weight at my last visit and it was over 40 BMI, will just go with that weight, a few more pounds won't make that much difference. YES we still have to loose, Peggy said it was case by case and the surgeon would let us know how much. I am feeling great, just waiting to hear from the surgery dept. Have a great Memorial Day weekend ladies and I will be in touch:thumbup:

I called the surgery dept; they have my referral and said expect 3-6 WEEKS to hear from them. OK hurry up and wait, wonder if I should start losing weight while I wait? They have my documented weight from April that is over 40 BMI. DOnt' want to make a wrong move...will have to give this some thought.

SILLYGOOSE, how is the last fill doing? any change this week?

Wow! Big changes!

And Jenny, what a week for you! How exciting!

mb20mom, hang in there. SG is right, it'll go faster than you think! There will be times that it seems to be a snail's pace but when you look back at it, after surgery, time will have flown!

Got a fill today. Moved it up from next Wed. I've got too much going on next week with DD's b-day and party and didn't want to take a chance with PB's or anything. I also like to baby my stomach for a couple of days after a fill and that won't be able to happen next week. Here's hoping this fill helps!

Oh and I'm now back up to 5.75cc in a 10cc band. Had to have an emergency unfill at Easter due to a stuck pill! Dumb, dumb, dumb!! So basically had to start over again. Very frustrating. I was thinking that I had finally hit my sweet spot right before that stick.

Have a beautiful and SAFE weekend everyone!!

Hi Jenny - I think it would be ok to start losing the weight if you want too. If it were me, I'd probably not try too hard to lose, but make sure I didn't gain at all until I met with the surgeon. You may want to think about going to the weight loss class. It does give you a lot of good information and a chance to ask a lot of questions.

I definitely have more restriction with this last fill. I'm finding that I must pay close attention to my eating habits - slow down and chew well! I've had this stuck feeling in my chest a couple times and have had to pb. No big deal, but I am learning from it. It's nice to finally feel like I have a band though!

Michelle - I'm so sorry to hear about your unfill. What an awful experience that must have been! At least you have a decent fill level again. Have a great weekend too and happy birthday to your daughter!

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
