Hi:

Sometimes pineapple juice will help disolve a stick. I've tried bending while in a sitting position and leaning as far forward toward my toes as I could reach and that dislodged something once.

I hope you feel better soon. If it lasts long and you can't get liquid down call your doctor.

Take care.

Sue

I heard that doing the yoga move -downward facing dog- works well. Good luck . Let us know

Walking always helps me as well as bending down/forward.

When I stand bending down/forward, the food will gently come up (aka PB).

I have had 1 episode last a few hours. It was no fun and I will NEVER eat that food again.

I've gotten food stuck twice......crackers once & bread.....I walked around did some heavy "lamaze" style breathing and finally bent over the toilet, relax and resigned myself to barfing and "wa-la" it passed.(first time)Second time same scenario but I did Pb & alot of sliming!! All in all it hurts like a mother & it is NOT alot of fun.But talk about a "learning" experience!! Hang in there!!:bored:

I read on a previous post that "papaya enzyme" helps. They are chewable tablets that you can buy at GNC. As a matter of fact I just bought some today, not that I plan on getting stuck, but figure if I can be prepared with options...just in case.... Here's the link to GNC if anyone wants to check it out.

In addition to all of the above suggestions I have also seen posted taking a sip of carbonated drink. Somehow the bubbles can dislodge the stuck item. But it could also make things worse. I've been stuck twice and the last time was 1 1/2 hours- the last 15 minutes being the worst and then -BAM- in one second it was gone. Just like that.

Thanks for the GNC tip I just ordered my papaya enzyme to have on hand after my surgery

twoheadedgirl, you will know, trust me..I often wondered too..But unfortunately today "TWICE" mind you, it happened (my first time/s)..First one lasted 20 minutes, second one lasted 10 minutes only because I drank some warm tea, I had only taken 4 tiny, tiny bites, so I knew as well didn't care if It passed on through because I was in pain..I just got my first fill monday(26th) and am learning..Although I thought/did chew well and was tiny. But have also heard many people say that the band seems/feels tighter in the morning, this must be true..And talk about frothy/foamy stuff ! EEWW!!

I have only had the band two and a half weeks and have been stuck three times (only been eating mushy food for 1 week)! Here is how I describe it and how I have been able to get relief.

I think of the band as a funnel. The food goes down, fills up the pouch above the band then slowly slides down through the "funnel". If you eat too fast or don't chew well enough, the top of the "funnel" can get clogged. You are officially stuck! Water doesn't help because it can't get through the clogged funnel either.

So how do you unclog the funnel? My first experience went something like this: I happily ate my mushy banana only to discover that...OMG...chest burning! After pounding on it like King Kong, I preceeded to flail my arms, drink water, wave my arms over my head like a madwoman and generally react like I was dying. My husband jumped in at this point, and told me to lie down flat on my back. As soon as I did this, the "clog" shifted, unplugging the "funnel" and the pain subsided immediately. A few minutes more on my back and I could hear the gurgling as the food was being dissolved.

The second time I got stuck, I skipped all the above steps and preceeded directly to the couch. Immediate relief. I can't say it will work for everyone but so far, this is the one and only "cure" I have found.

Good luck.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
