Calling All MARCH '09 Bandsters - We need a name!

I just did check when you wrote that-

1 packet= 130 cals, 3g Protein, 3g Fiber, 27g carbs and 13g of sugar

I guess I need to look into the lower sugar version and see how much difference there is in sugars.

I cannot stand Protein Drinks or really any kinds of drinks. I mostly drink Water with an occasional few ounces of apple juice. oatmeal has been a good ol' standby for me for Breakfast, it is easy to eat at work and usually goes down good.

Shoes: I have noticed a strange feeling in my throat a few times since I have been adding foods. I tried eating multi grain cheerios last weekend and they just wouldn't go down right. I felt a lump in my throat. Also got that feeling when I ate some rice. I think it happens to me with starchy foods. Do you notice it all the time? Both times I got up and walked a little and then was fine.

I am so looking forward to my fill. My Dr doesn't do it for 6 weeks. My problem? I am leaving for Disney World the very next day. So I put my fill off until almost 8 weeks from surgery. I just wasn't sure how I would handle it and we are flying to Disney. My Dr.'s office nurse told me that some people have issues when they fly. I didn't want to take that chance. I wonder if I should call to see if they could do it the week before?

What about March Madness? It has been crazy for me just getting ready for surgery on the 27th! How are you doing? That 1st week was tough! Better now.

Hang in there!

i'm wondering if you guys have the same thing i have....

my port incision is about 2 inches across. when i feel the area below the incision, it feels okay. but when i feel the area above the incisions, it feels sort of "hard". i'm just wondering if the actual port is above the incision? or is this scar tissue?

I have the same feeling by my incision. It's hard right above the scar and to the right. My sister had the same surgery and she says that is where the port is located.........

Hi guys~

At my incision I have the same hard feeling. It feels thick and about 2 cm down and 1cm wide. I also thought it was my port. When I went for my fill on Tuesday I found out that mine was scar tissue. My port is actually 3 inches below my scar. My surgeon told me that they often cut out some of the fat on top of the muscle layer that is just below the ribs. It gives it a firm place to "anchor" it. Causing it to stick out less if they make a little nest for it. All that cutting though is what caused my seroma (the Fluid to collect around my port). Depends on the type of band you have.. whether it's easy to feel the port. The lap band port is higher in thickness and is easier to feel than the lower "profile" of the realize band port. Hope that helps.

On another note~~ how is everyone doing? How are we going to get through Easter without attacking a chocolate bunny?! The Easter Bunny has to visit my 5 year old.. but he will put more toys this year than candy. I just cannot have too much choc. in the house. I don't love jellybeans.. so I will be ok there.

I for one am drinking ALOT of Water to try to stay away from the candy! I have 4 kids so there is alot of Junk around my house this weekend. I am buying them candy that I dont like and alot of snack food like granola bars and fruit Snacks that they can have during the week.

I have deceided that if I want to eat a peice of chocolate than I need to drink a full glass of water first. It does work because water makes me full and so I only ate one piece of chocolate:thumbup:

Hey all. Is anyone finding that they want food they didn't before their surgery? For example, I wasn't much into sweets but now I seem to crave them. This can't be good, hoping after my first fill I won't crave anymore!!

I have been craving sweets terrible lately:eek:

Normally I like sweets but not to this extreme. Hopefully it is just because they are everywhere right now. I was thinking maybe it is a comfort thing too:confused:

I am hoping you are right, but it is just oddd that I didn't really care either way for them before and now I am wanting them A LOT!! Not just simple things either, I want like cake, and Cookies. Not really candy. It's weird and I really hope it passes. today is the first day I am pretty much back on normal foods.

Hi all

My port site sticks out where the port is, I hope when I loose my weight that it is not like that. And anyone fearing the stick when they get their fill, I have been thru cancer twice and had a port for my chemotherapy. Not once did I have any numbing done and it was no worse that a regular shot. 99% of the time I did not even feel it when she put the needle in, and that needle is larger. Don't sweat it that will only make you dread it even more.

I have not had any cravings yet, I don't like chocolate so I guess that is a plus. I have always loved chips, popcorn, nachos anything salty and spicy. So far I have been happy with my bland food.< /p>

I have a question that I have not seen answered here, is it okay to guzzle Water? ? I'm a big water drinker and all this sipping is driving me NUTS I don't have any problem with gulping but did not want to hurt the band, any answers??

Have a great day!! Bernadette

Can't really say I'm haveing any cravings yet...I think I've been hanging strong, as a matter of fact we had two huge carrot cakes (my absolute favorite!!!) in the kitchen at work for th past two days....and i just walked by (but lets be honest, I stay away from the kitchen as much as possible!!!)

Bernadette I would be carefull gulping Water the way I understand from my surgeon water drains threw our bands very quickly so you can drink often, just watch large volumes.

I hope everyone is feeling good and shrinking daily.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
