Just banded...liquid ideas

Recommended Posts

so, I want to make sure I'm not missing out on anything here...

I was banded on Fri 1.23 and feel great! I've been doing tons of h2o, Protein Shakes (1 per day), broth, and sf pudding. I also have yogurt, cream Soups, and sf Jello and sf popsicles.

Anything else I can add to the shopping list for variety?

Thanks for any and all input!

I heated Tomato Soup and broke up slices of Kraft fat free cheese in it until they melted. Some Protein, and the Soup wasn't bad either. On my list I could have low fat yogurt as a liquid, too.

I can have cream of wheat in the liquid phase, made with skim milk it adds a little extra Protein. I tried it today and surprisingly it went down as well as the creamed Soup. I was banded on 1/20, and have another week before I can go to pureed.< /p>

I love cottage cheese, so when I was on liquids, I'd blend some up with a bit of skim milk to think it out. One treat I liked on liquids was also to blend up a banana with some skim milk to make a "sauce" to put over the cottage cheese. After the Clear Liquids diet, that was wonderful!

Also, I made and bought a bunch of different Soups -- there are two really yummy recipes & photos on my blog if you're interested. I bought turkey chili as well and blended it with some chicken broth & fat free yogurt to thin it out. I still have that sometimes -- it's yummy!

I'm still loving the ff/sf Jello chocolate pudding. That's become a staple in my house, even though I generally try to stay away from artificial sweetenters. I just enjoy having a treat on hand that doesn't mess up my diet!

Congrats on your surgery! Glad to hear you are doing well.

Catherine

Don't use the broth that comes in a can. Make some chicken Soup and let some of the vegetables dissolve. Then strain it and sip on it. Be creative. I had my 17 year old son cut up some potatoes into very very small squares and boil it in chicken broth from a can until the potatoes get very soft some should melt. Again strain and sip.

My husband and son boiled some flank steak they cut in small cubes. As soon as it came to a boil they changed the Water to get the brown foam that floats on top out (Rinse it to get it all out). Then add clean Water, cilantro, green onion, onion, season (i.e. garlic power, Lawrys, salt) zucchini, carrots, celery, and potato in this order. Boil for 2 to 4 hours and add water as needed. Once this is almost all cooked add cabbage and boil for another 1/2 hour or so. You want the cabbage to start to melt. Then add a bag of frozen corn.

You want everything to boil until everything starts to melt. Use a mesh strainer to serve yourself and for the family have them add avocado and fresh lime juice to their bowl. If you plan on using it for you cream Soups take your juice and veggies out before you add the corn because the corn does not blend well. At that point you can add a bit of smashed avocado to yours as well. If it gets too thick add some can broth to yours and enjoy. Oh, the broth will change the taste.

The broth from this soup is the best!!!!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
