Dumb Question About Port

Recommended Posts

So I got banded a week ago and have my first post-surgery appointment with my doctor tomorrow. I have 5 incisions (4 small and 1 larger one) and for the life of me I cannot figure out where the port is. Can someone tell me where it most likely is? I don't think it is the bigger one because that one is in the very center of my chest....

Thanks!

It's probably either in 2 places that I know of. Above your belly button about 2-3 inches to the side of it (but you'd KNOW if it were there). Or I have heard around your rib cage, around where the bra line area is. Mine is near my belly button and I am almost 4 weeks postop and just starting to have the muscle pain go away (since they sew it into your muscle). HTH

It is the bigger one on me, which is to the far left of my belly, but about three inches above my belly button.

Also the largest of the incisions for me. Mine's about 3" or so under my bra line on the left, the only one thats painful/most tender

The largest incision is the port incision - that doesn't mean the port is exactly under that incision though - it could be slightly lower or to the left or right. They wouldn't want to do a fill straight into the scar.

I thought mine was under or near my biggest incision.... but it's not. When I went to get my first fill, they put the needle in about 1 inch down and 1 inch to the left of that incision. I was surprised. Obviously I can't feel my port. Becky

I can feel mine very easily. It is under the largest incision, tucked just under my rib cage, on the left, about 4 inches left of midline.

I think it varies for everyone. Mine is a few inches below my right breast.I can actually feel it.

TO Thegirlnextdoor, on the right side?? Most go on the left side, as the stomach is on more the left side...Was there a reason? I have heard if people have other issues. Sorry, I'm nosy!

Mine is to the left of the bellybutton and up a bit - the only site that is still tender to the touch - and the one high up in the middle is the liver retraction point (which was casually mentioned at my post-op visit the other day)

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
