Band Pregnancy...

Recommended Posts

So far, I've had ZERO morning sickness. (Knock on wood.)

My only real complaint is that I have terrible gas cramps in my lower abdomin that hit me at night while I'm sleeping. I've tried gas-x and the only thing that gives me any relief is getting up and walking around. (So don't be surprised to see me walking my dog up and down the street at 3AM.)

My doc says that all of this "extra gas" is very common in the first trimester, I'm just unlucky in the fact that I can't get rid of it! I'm not sure if it has anything to do with my band or not.

Another thing, my last fill finally kicked in a couple days after I found out I was PG. I go see my band doc next week and I'm going to BEG him to let me keep my fill. As long as I can convince him that I'm eating enough and making healthy choices, my OB is cool with it.

I went back to the OB today and everything is measuring "text book." :)

I talked to him about gaining/losing weight while pregnant and he told me that my official weight was 193 and that I could stay 193 until my delivery date without gaining and that would be fine with him. HOWEVER, he did not want me to lose ANY weight at all throughout my pregnancy. He explained that when you lose weight you go through ketosis and that it does not benefit your baby.

He's also checking with my band doc on prescribing me something for these gas cramps. I'll let you know what it is tomorrow.

Until then.....

Just at night....the doc is prescribing me something that starts with a "R"....that's all I can remember.

I'm just 6 weeks. I had my first ultra sound yesterday and I saw my little lima bean!

Congratulations again! I am so excited for you! I remember seeing Dylan for that first time when I was 5 weeks along. I remember the tears streaming down my face because I knew that that pregnancy would be a keeper. (since my problem had been fixed to prevent further miscarriages)

I also remember the 13 week ultra sound that they did too. His little arms and legs were just a going! I knew at that moment that he'd be an energetic one, and he certainly still is!!!!!

I wish you so many happy joyous memories of this pregnancy. Because even though the years go by and you'll be holding your baby, and watching him/her grow, you'll always have the memories of your pregnancy.

I still smile when I think about watching his little arms and legs doing the "jitterbug" dance in there. And then to feel his big old kicks towards the end and watch my belly move in waves. LOL You're going to love it!

I wish you all the best, and thanks for keeping us updated!

I am happy to hear that you are having a baby!! that is great!! How long were you banded before you got pregnant? My doctor has me on birth control pills for at least one year post op as not to interfere with the sucess of the band. How did your band dr react? Can you have your band just unfuilled for the lenght of your pregnancy or can you have it taken out and put back on? what are your options? I am only curious because in the office here they warn you against it highly.

Best of luck to you and your family.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
