I've never heard of having to lose 10% of your weight prior to surgery. That's silly - if we could of done that, we might not be needing the surgery!

I had my "day surgery" last Friday. I got to the hospital at 6am, in to the OR at 9am, banded by 10 - home by 1pm! (with an hour drive) All has been perfectly fine. ;)

Best of luck to you!

Kaiser does it as outpatient as well. So I am guessing that unless there is a problem I will be going home same day.

good to hear singing. i would love to meet and hear about your experience with the other programs

I am so thankful that my insurance covered surgery and I did have an overnight stay and great nursing care. I mean I was on morphine, anti nausa and had to wait for xrays before they let me leave. Plus I had complications. I cant imagining how scary it would have been if I was sent home.

I know! If I could lose 10% of my weight, I wouldn't even be on these boards and going to the info groups inquiring about the Band ..or any WLS matter of fact.

But want to hear something ? Two years ago I had breast reduction surgery..6 hours on the table. They amputate both breasts and reform them...sounds severe, I know, but that is what they do. (I was very large). Well they wanted to keep me 1 night and send me home the next day! Muscular Pain like you wouldn't believe. I requested an extra day and it was granted..no questions asked! Why? The Dr recommended it. If we ask, then perhaps the surgeon can suggest an overnight if we feel we need it for discomfort, Bl Pressure watch, etc.

Well, I have gained 40 pounds since that reduction 2 yrs ago and...YEP...they are almost the same size they were before the 6 hour surgery! Drawer full of unfitting bras and a closet full of clothes in 3-4 different sizes! Now's the time to stop this cycle.

but I'm still singingintherain!

I went in at 6:00 a.m.

Had surgery at 7:30 a.m.

Woke up in recovery at 10:30 a.m.

drank Water... pee'd

Went home about 11:30 a.m.

At True Results, that seems to be the norm.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
