Happy Problem to Report!

Recommended Posts

Someone yesterday mentioned to me that she thought I looked like I was losing weight! That's great, but that's not the problem (yet). What she said was that my clothes looked awfully big and that I should take them in. My happy problem is that nothing in my closet fits! I went through everything and took out all of the clothes that are ridiculously big and kept the few things that don't make me look like a clown. I'm going to fill my car's trunk with these too-big clothes and donate them to the hospital's WLS support group closet. I have three suits left, two pairs of pants, about 6 pairs of jeans, and maybe 20-30 shirts left. Only one suit really fits, the pants are really big, but I can hide it by wearing a jacket over the pants with a belt that cinches the pants in the back so no one can really tell.

In the meantime I'll bring out my sewing machine again and start sewing some new clothes - the easy ones, like pants - and stretch the use of the clothes I have left. I had purchased a few things that ended up being too small when I bought them, but are now either just right or just a little bit too big. I don't think I have anything at all that is too small anymore. What a happy, happy problem to have!

I thank God for all he's done to help make this work out. I know the real work is on my shoulders, and I've only had one fill (getting another one Thursday), so it's mostly Protein Shakes and willpower so far. Been working on it now for 3 months, since October 10. I haven't lost as quickly as some, but my surgeon said it's expected because of my age (I'm 56) but that I'm still doing okay.

Hurray!!

Compliments are great. My neighbor kid (24) was home for Christmas. He left in Oct. for crabbing in Alaska. He is on the Deadly Catch. When he was here a few weeks back he came over when he saw me outside and noticed I'd lost weight. It was nice to hear it from someone else besides family. Family is great don't get me wrong ~ but when others start to notice~ you know your doing something right.

I've sold alot of my clothes on Ebay these past few months. Great to get rid of, plus a few extra bucks to replace some of them too.

Keep up the great work.

I have traded obesity for shopping addiction! Jk I used to hate going shopping and never found anything in my size that I liked. Now I love it all especially designer jeans... Those are my weakness

That is a great problem!! hehe. I spent thousands of dollars on new clothes last year and that all went to waste! Nothing fits, I refuse to spend any money on new clothes. I just bought two pair of jeans and lots of cute tops and leggings. I think that should hold me down until maybe March! I have been stocking up on my shoes

THAT IS SO EXCITING! I had a similar experience. Before my band 9-8-08, all my clothes were getting really tight or just flat didn't fit me anymore. A couple months post op I was in my closet and started trying things on. I fit into everything, jeans, shirts, fancy dresses I hadn't worn in 10 years. Now everything either fits or is in a huge basket for Goodwill in the corner. AND I've been shopping. It's all so GREAT!

There is a 50s thread that you should join. I'm 58, so on that thread the excuse about age doesn't work, lol.... come join us.

If you sew, why didnt you just put a dart in the back of some of the other pants you are giving away, that's what Iv been doing. Maybe I haven't slimmed down as much as you have though.

I'm just now buying some new cruise dresses. I'm still in a size 18, wearing a xl or 2X tee shirt, my stomach hasnt come down much .... yet.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
