Did you exercise today?

Recommended Posts

Well, I did it. I ran 6 miles. It took me 80 minutes which makes my average mile 13:20. I'll take it. I decided at the very last second to change back to my old shoes and I'm glad I did because I got a blister in those ones, the new ones would have been worse. I will wear the new ones for my short runs until I'm comfortable in them. I'm very tired and unusually sore, but happy with my accomplishment. Thanks for all the well wishes. You guys are such a help to my motivation.

Awesome job Shiny, big congratz to you! :tongue2: You continue to inspire and amaze :cheated:

Getting ready to work out now. Must get back on track with my exercise and eating. I'm not really gaining but I'm not losing either. Also, I know I feel so much better when I start the day with some exercise. It makes me ready to face the day with vim and vigor. Hope you all have an energy-filled day.

I hope to be back on track...I was at the Y this morning and did chest and biceps workout, and then 30 min on the tm. I managed to 'run' for 20 minutes non-stop.....whoo hoo! I hope to build that up and eventually be able to run a 5K, but one step (or rather stride) at a time!

THis weekend I didn't get to the Y - but I did shovel and chip ice....

Tap, are you feeling like me - soooooooo done with shoveling snow and ice! :w00t: And it's only February, lol. The temperature got up to a "balmy" 40 degrees on Sunday, and it melted some, but it hardly made a dent in all of it.

As for exercise, I did double duty this past weekend. On Friday, we adopted a blue merle Australian Shepherd (a purebred even!) from our local shelter - I've been looking for the "right dog" for a year now. Her name is Gracie (I love it) and she's only 1 year old (past that puppy hood, lol), housebroken, spayed, and very well behaved. It's sad when someone has to let a beautiful dog like that go to a shelter.

Anyway, since she's an Aussie and young, she needs lots of exercise! Everyday I've been taking her for hour long walks around the neighborhood. Walking in the snow is a challenge (they plow our streets but it's never down to the pavement) but Gracie seemed to enjoy it. And since a leisurely walk around the neighborhood really isn't enough exercise for me (oy, I remember the day when I would have come home from that walk, and wanted to pass out!) . . . I've also been doing my 3.5 miles on my treadmill (I do that in the late afternoon).

My muscles are feeling it all today! But I'm so happy with the new addition to our family. Gracie is definitely a keeper! No excuses for not getting out and getting some fresh air now, lol.

If anyone out there is ever looking for a new animal companion, please consider your local animal shelter first. Even if it takes you awhile to search the right one. It's amazing how many purebreds and beautiful animals are in the shelter. I'm a big animal lover, and it always touches my heart to give the homeless a second chance.

"Please don't breed or buy, while homeless die!"

Okies . . . off my soapbox  Just a cause that's dear to my heart.

YAY Rhapsody! both on stepping up the exercise by adding a new family member, and in realizing the progress you have made to date! Sometimes we forgot just how far we have come, and then something happens to remind us and give us the incentive to keep on keepin on!

SHM, Congrats on your 6 miles and good timing. You should be really proud!

Thanks Ezma and tap for checking in on me. The Dr. Appt was less than savory. My Dr. is very concerned about the knee. She said it doesn't feel good and believes I might have popped my ACL. She set me up for some XRays that I did the next morning. I self diagnosed myself with them! :w00t: It looks like my Left kneecap is miles away from my leg in comparison to my Right. Well now I'm only waiting on my Dr.'s office to get the report from the Radiology Dept to set me up with an Orthopedist Dr.

I'll let you know if/when I hear anything. I gave my body a rest last week. This week I plan to at least get on my stationery bike for 30 mins on MWF, and do some Calisthenics on TuThS. That is a VERY light schedule for me, but I'm going crazy with nothing doing!!

Diva - sorry to hear about this; a set back when you were doing so well! I am assuming that your Dr gave you the clearance to start doing the biking...right????? You do NOT watch to aggrevate your condition or do anything to put you even more off course. Follow the docs instructions to a 'T'. Better a small set back now than a bigger one later!

Lil Miss, so sorry about your knee. I have such a fear that I will get injured and not be able to continue exercising. My hip has been bothering me a bit. I hope it's nothing.

I did 2 miles on the treadmill today. I had it going 7.0 for about 2 tenths of a mile. Woo hoo!

Congrats on the dog, Rhapsody. That is built-in exercise and good for you for doing more over and above that.

SHM - Are you going to check with a Dr about your hip? And a speed of 7?!?!? WOW!!!! I just managed yesterday to get the tm up to 5 and I thought for sure I was going to die!!! I can't imagine 7...but of course, now I have even reason to try....I can see us all now in the future with our 'road-runner legs' flying as we run marathons...

I went swimming this morning - 30 min flat out front crawl.

tap, no my doctor didn't approve me to exercise. Thanks for that, I didn't do anything. That's the reason I'm in the situation I am in now.

Ugh! I wanna workout!!

:(

Who'd have ever thought I would say that in a million years??

:cursing:

Who'd have ever thought I would say that in a million years??

I doubt those words will ever fall from my lips!! A year of fitness and it is still a struggle...I don't HATE it, I'd just much rather read a book, or do some crafts, or clean.

At the Y this morning I did 40 min of weight/strength training focusing on chest and shoulders, then the tm.

I was at the Y this morning - did 40 min cycling. Didn't work up the same sweat as when on the tm but it is still better than nothing, and I feel it in my legs.

Hey there Tap. You're doing great. Thank you for keeping us motivated. I have tried to get exercise in where I could but caring for my husband has really increased in it's demand of my time. I guess one good part is that it's a very good workout when you have to lift and move a 200+ man. My heart gets pounding, I'm out of breath and my muscles ache. Heck, I've even managed to get a knee injury. Sounds a lot like a sport huh? LOL But all said and done, I'd rather be doing a nice cardio workout out with him right next to me doing it too.

How's everyone else doing?

I'm not doing anything. :bananalama:

Other than that I guess when life gives you Lemons, you should trade them in for a fruit basket.

Hello everyone :present:

Still doing ok here Tap, a bit busy with a new dog, it's like having a new kid, lol. But the walks are nice, it's been sunny out, but COLD!!!!! Too cold, even with a scarf on my face it gets too cold to stay out long. I'll so glad to see Spring get here.

So the dog walks are only about a half hour recently, and I'm still doing the treadmill, but only about 2 miles. I don't know, I've fallen into a bit of a lull with the exercise, but trying to stay motivated. I had my yearly mammogram a week ago, and now my ob-gyn wants me to come in for an exam, because they "saw something". My mother had breast cancer, so I'm a bit worried. :bananalama:

But thanks for keeping me motivated once again! The exercise may have slowed down a bit, but I'm still hanging in there. On the plus side, I did get a fill on Monday, and oy, I'm feeling it! Good restriction for now, I'm full on a lot less, so maybe with my controlled appetite, I'll maintain my weight loss, even though I'm exercising less. My band gets really "tight" in the morning, and I swear I was stuck on Water this morning, lol. :cheers2: eating ok now though.

LilMissDiva, I'm really sorry to hear about your knee. It is best just to take it easy for now, although I'd be frustrated too if I couldn't exercise (and agree that feels weird to say that!). I hope the Ortho Dr. can help you out and give you some better news . . . please keep us updated, ok?

SHM, congratz on your speed of 7.0! That would kick me in the butt real quick . . . I think I'd fall off the treadmill. You go girl! But I agree, do get your hip checked out.

Keep up the good work all!

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
