Dr. Sina Matin was my surgeon. 14 days out from surgery I weighted 323lb day of surgery I weighted 305lb so I had a bit of a head start. Had surgery Christmas Eve, Christmas day was ok got to be with my 4 grand-kids as they opened gifts. Got home about 8pm, spend day 2 in bed.

Feel great today and want to start walking but it is raining outside so I guess I will have to stay inside. Found out yesterday that my son-in-law did not pick up my pain meds and I was only taking the nausea meds. I did fine but wonder how much better I would have felt with a little bit of pain med helps.

My daughter had the same surgery Dec 26th 2007 and she has lost 132lbs she has only 30lb to go. She looks like a new woman. I am so proud of her and hope I can do as well. She bought me a goal weight outfit in size 14 as a Christmas present it is gorgeous and looks very small :hurray:.

My family has always been over weight and we were always rewarded with food.< /p>

Hello there Fellow Banders!

I was Lap Banded on Dec. 23, 2008~ 4 days ago. I was researching some more tonight as I chill out in my recliner. I was so tired of hearing "Why don't you try Weight Watchers"~ DUH!!! How many times have I tried that? And Atkins, South Beach, Jenny Craig, NutriSystem, etc. You name it!

I also got flack for doing it RIGHT before Christmas~ but I am a full time, married, working Mom of a 2 year old. So tell me when should I get it done?

So I went for it! I have PCOS, high blood pressure, sleep apnea and (the last straw) Pre-Diabetes. I was 250 before surgery and as of today I am 240lbs. I am only 5'3".........So I have a WHOLE lot to lose.

Is anyone out there to talk to me? I am on the clear liquid phase~ BUT why do I feel hungry? I feel like skipping a "phase" and eating a tiny bit of solids.....OMG! But I don't get my first fill until January 5th. Maybe that's when the REAL restriction begins???

Help me Banders!

Thanks

DON'T EAT SOLIDS! Your stomach needs to keep from churning so that scar tissue forms around the band. Eating solids too early could lead to slippage of your band later on.

You are in bandster hell right now. liquids aren't filling but you have no restriction. You just have to grit your teeth and bear it because there are medical reasons to be on liquids.< /p>

Thanks you so much MacMadame!

I didn't realize that eating solids now could jeopardize my future.......good thing you wrote me that.

Yes, I do NEED restriction, but I guess I have to wait 9 more days in ALL-LIQUID-HELL>

Any ideas as to what can fill me up in the meantime?:hurray:

You aren't the only one who doesn't know. I think the surgeons think just saying "do what I say" is enough sometimes, but it isn't always.

I would just drink LOTS and LOTS of fluids. If your pouch is full, you should get some relief from hunger until it empties. Plus lots of fluids is good for the weight loss.

I to am on the clear liquid stage and I am doing ok. My family went to Golden Coral and I had a V8 juice. So I feel you pain. I know it is hard but all of us need this or we would not have gone through the pain and cost. YOU can do it to...

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
