OMG I got "stuck"

Recommended Posts

It is by far the worse feeling in the world..and only time helped pass it along..I was eating scrambled eggs and my first bite was a bigger bite without throughly chewing :tongue2:

so guys please do chew, chew, chew your foods..

Interesting that you say that - my wife had the exact same thing happen to her yesterday! I like to cook scrambled eggs into a "lump" and then cut it off with my fork, as opposed to my wife cooking them and chopping them up as she goes.

I cooked eggs for us yesterday morning and sure enough, she got stuck! She didn't chew it well enough and up it came!

OMG that total sucks! I haven't had that happen so far but it is a huge fear of mine. I am sure you won't make that mistake twice.

There is an interesting thread about "First Bite Syndrome" that may help you look at how not to get stuck. Here is the link to it: http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f178/first-bite-syndrome-84030/

I am with Pete - getting stuck is one of my big fears. I plan to eat my first "meals" at home and not in public until I get a handle on what I can and cannot do. I also wonder if it is like Water skiing. You have to go ahead and fall once - to get over the fear so you can concentrate on having fun.

Note to self - when taking dayquil gel-caps, take them one at a time. To do otherwise will cause them to get STUCK!

I normally do one at a time, but today I tossed both in and chased them with some Water. OMG it hurts like hell!

About 5 mins later I belched and tasted that god-awful taste of dayquil - but the pain went away!

One thing my doc said that will help when taking pills is to take a drink of Water before you put a pill in your mouth to help coat your throat and then when you do take you pill to drink a full 8 oz of water to help wash the pill through.

I did it today. I had some leftover pork roast (went down ok for dinner last night) and guess I went a bite or two too much and PB'd. Thank goodness that once I got 2-3 bites back up, the pain went away. Whew! Need to pay better attention.

I got a pill stuck today. Shortly before eating lunch I took a pill. Before my first bite I got that feeling. Never had a pill stuck before but have had food stuck. It took a while to figure out why I was hurting before taking a bite of food :/

Could only eat two bites of food. Then it dawned on me what I had done.

Worst of all, I am a juror on a court case, there I was sliming in the jury box!!!

As a side note, if I let myself get very hungry I have a tendency to take too big a bite and not chew well. That is what cause me to get stuck most often.

I did it this weekend. I was trying to rush out of the house but knew I had to eat something for lunch. I scarfed down two slices of deli roast beef wrapped inside two slices of cheese. The pain was immediate and unbearable. Somehow I remembered reading here about bending over and it worked! With so little restriction now its easy to forget to slow down and chew, chew, chew. Hopefully this will change next week.

I had my first PB too - yup it was horrible. Mine had nothing to do with chewing - simply the type of food I ate...meatpie - I will never have that again booooooooo my mom makes it so yummy - but that feeling - um I never want to experience it again!

My wife got stuck again. She found that if she swallows air and forces herself to burp it really helps getting unstuck.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
