I don't know about that, but I gad my EGD this past Wednesday and had a cold. I did my best to mask it because that was the last step before neeting with the surgeon for a surgery date. In hindsight, I probably should have waited until will cold had run its course; something about being put to sleep and I already can't breath because of congestion is a bit scary. I meet with thw surgeon Tuesday and I am staying in the house until then!

I just called the nurse and asked her she said I can still have my surgery next friday as long as there is no fever present and not alot of chest congestion. keeping fingers crossed. going to try zycam to see if that will work so I dont get it full blown.. i have been staying at home but I have teens that go to the high school.. grrrrr..

I have a 10 year old and a college student who comes today for a month! I suppose I will lock myself in my room when he gets home and let them fight until my husband gets in from work!

My dr. said that he will not sedate anyone if they are the once bit sick. It is too much of a risk and liability to do that. If you have congestion of any sort, it will get a lot worse and it is not worth it. Good luck!

For a minor head cold with no fever and nothing much in the way of chest congestion, most of the tnme you'd be able to have surgery, whatever you were having done.

If you had a high temp, a hacking cough and could hardly breathe, that's another matter entirely.

This is what I'm kinda worried about. I've been on antibiotics since last Monday to get rid of a sinus infection and I feel a whole lot better, but my nose is still some what stopped up. Other then that I'm fine, no fever or chest congestion. My surgery is December 19

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
