What happens at the Pulmonary test ?

Recommended Posts

I have my test for Monday 12/7 as well. I am told we breath into a machine to measure our lung function and there is no prep we have to do for it or no pokes or discomfort.

When, where and who is banding you?

I am supposed to be banded 12/17 but I am having pain so I am having gall bladder scan on Monday. My banding may be postponed

Good luck

Thank you for your answer , At my intial visit they gave me a date of 3/30/09 for my surgery , I am getting banded at Mountainside Hospital in Glen Ridge NJ by Dr Karl Strom.

I also have to get an ultrasound for my gall bladder as my PCP thinks I had a gall bladder attack , but I want to get these other appointments out of the way and then I will go for the ultrasound .

It seems that different doctors and different insurances have a wide variety of tests you have to have before the surgery. I am having "bloos tests and other testing" done tomorrow, then I am scheduled for an EGD on Wednesday. After that, I am supposedly ready to see the surgeon to start the pre=op diet and schedule surgery.

Mine is Monday 12/8/08 and I am not sure what to expect ? Can anyone shed some light ?

They had me do a full pulmonary function test because I have asthma and its a piece of cake. they put me in this strange glass box and I to breathe as hard as I could a few times then I had to breathe for as long as I could a few times. Nothing to worry about

It is a very simple procedure, you sit in a chamber and follow the respiratory techs instructions as to when and how long to breathe. It gets tiring, you really have to puff hard at times!

I had blood gasses drawn the same time. It didn't hurt at all like I had thought it would. Maybe I got lucky and had a great tech do the poke! Good luck.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
