Banded Yesterday! Doing good so far!

Recommended Posts

I am up drinking a Protein shake and trying to keep moving around for a bit.

Slept a lot yesterday...but realize I need to be up and around for awhile.

Everything went great....was the first patient in the morning so I didn't have as much time to get more nervous :nervous

Thanks for all the good thoughts!

Hi ya'll,

I was banded yesterday too! In some pain where port is, but not bad. I am so glad it is over. The sugery center gave us a hardback journal to keep, I thought that was awesome. I was going to do that anyway, so was excited to keep it.

Praying for the rest of the July bandsters!

Lu Ann

I will second the glad it is over! That was a nice thing for them to do...giving you a journal. One of my red hat friends brought me a journal today. Will be interesting to see how our progress goes and look back on this time.

We should communicate with each other as fellow 20ths...:D

Have a great day!

Susan

SuSu,

I see you are close to my age. I had bad thoughts at first, because of my age...but still wanted this extra weight off.

Glad you are doing good.

Good morning Lu Ann

I really never had too much thought about age because I still feel young...

(well maybe not today)laugh.gif

My PCP just kept saying lose the weight...lose the weight....so here I am.

Hope you will have a good day today!

Prayers for those being banded today.

SuSu,

I see you are close to my age. I had bad thoughts at first, because of my age...but still wanted this extra weight off.

Glad you are doing good.

I almost mentioned that we are close to the same age, too.

I went back to work today on a trial basis and it kicked my butt! I had to come home midafternoon--soooooo tired and sore! Putting a bra on was no fun and I decided folks were just going to deal with unrestrained boobs.

This was my first time to eat out in public and it really made me nervous. I ended up not eating very much at all.

Came home and slept for 3 hours!

Will try again tomorrow. I don't have have a scale at home, so I'm going to try to find one at work to see if I've lost any. Fingers crossed!

Colleen

Hi DeLarla

Thanks. Susu is what my grandkids call me because they have 3 grandmothers.

They are sweethearts....Alex- almost 11 and Emily-7. They just moved to England in February. Son is working there for 2 years. Made the trip in April and will be going back again in September.

Oops, guess that was not about banding cheeky.gif

Colleen - My hat is off to you for making it half a day. I am retired and glad that I don't have to do that part right now. I have a couple of tops that have builtin bras...but sleeveless. Not the height of fashion with large arms. Today I went to the store braless. They will just have to live with it because one of my incisions is right where the bottom of the bra hits. Not going there yet.

Hope everyone has a good evening and even better day tomorrow.

I dropped by my PCP's office today to weigh on their super accurate scale--10 lbs lost since my banding one week ago!

I was so excited!

I called Dr. Spivak's office to share the good news.

So far I have had no real trouble and have bounced back pretty fast--not bad for an "old lady", huh?

Colleen

(gotta figure out the ticker business!)

Hi Colleen,

Congratulations! Sounds like you are doing much better than me. Weight is coming off, down 14 #'s, but I have had the worse post-op of my life! Trapped gas, is killing me...yeah, yeah, I know, I have taken all the OTC meds, and walk, walk, walk, but it isn't going away very fast. Seems like it is a little better in the a.m., but by night, I am dying again!!

Anyway, you go girl! Glad you are up and running.....

Maybe I am too old for this?

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
