was it worth it??

Recommended Posts

I had my lapband done about 3 months ago and have 2 fills and I still get hungry and can eat more that I feel I should beable to.

I'am going to call my doctor about a 3rd fill. I read and article that said if you still don't get full when you eat than you probably need another band fill.

Has anyone else been having this problem??

I wonder if my stomach has not stretched.:smile2:

It often takes several fills to get to your "sweet spot". The average is four fills for some it takes more and some less. It took five for me.

ABSOLUTLY!

I am one year from surgery and happier, healthier, sexier than I have ever been. I have lost 130 pounds (I need to update my ticker) and I wear size 10 or 8 in clothes. I worked hard to get here, but I could not have done it without my band. It is amazing how well this tool works if you respect it on a daily basis.

Best of luck and keep moving forward.

Lanie

I agree, it takes awhile to hit the perfect restriction. It was 4-5 fills for me before I hit mine. I am doing great with almost 70 lbs gone now. I had surgery on March 17, 2008.

Definitely!

You just need more fill, keep at it and it will soon get easier.

I look better than I did in my 20's and feel it too. And I wasnt even obese in my 20's, that's the miracle of it.

In my opinion, it was well worth it!

I am 10-weeks out and think it is worth it. I am down 30 pounds and have lots of energy, so to me that is totally worth it.

So far I have three fills completed. 5cc in a 10cc band. Right now I have great restriction, but it does not last very long. I am hopeful that I will find my sweet spot.

I got banded 4/14/09 - I have only had one fill and have no restriction whatsoever. I have only lost 10 pounds (212 down to 202 - 5 foot tall) and that was right after the surgery. I am so afraid I'll gain weight. My doctor will only do a fill every 4 weeks! I wish I could get one sooner. How do you all stay motivated and not get depressed? I am struggling with this and feel like I got banded for nothing. How do you all stay focused?

Waiting for a fill is hard - but you can do it!!

Stay positive and increase your workouts to combat hunger.

Good Luck!

Don't be concerned. When I was banded I only lost 10 pounds during the first 2 months. Most of which was in the few weeks right after surgery. Later I started losing on average of 5 lbs a month after my first fill and keep getting fills every 2 to 3 months. I am on my 4th fill now. Then you hit the "sweet" spot and haven't had a fill in a while. My surgery was Nov. 2007 and I have lost 60 lbs. and am working on the last 10. You do have to watch what you put in your mouth! There are some foods that are not restricted by the band. Such as Cookies, cake, ice cream, chips and the like. But if you eat healthy foods, the band works for them. However, it may take several fills to get your first restriction. Some doctors are very conservative about how much fill they give you at one time. It is true, what someone else wrote to you. You just need to get a fill. Then keep getting them until it works for you. Don't despair, good luck.

You wrote this a long time ago. How about an update on your band life? I remember being 2 months out and I could eat anything. Now after only my 3rd fill I can only eat very little. I love the success I've had with this band and wouldn't trade it for anything.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
