She did it in 12 weeks but you know Dr. Oz never really tells details - she does 10,000 steps and eats Fiber wraps - that's all I got out of it -

Now I'm watching the doctors and the Plastic Surgeon just told some lady who was considering getting the band - her questions wasn't about the band, it was about weather or not it's ok to get it done in Mexico - he said stay close to home and get bypass! It's a proven method and the band dependent on some medical devise. Lucky I couldn't reach thru the tube and smack him - you get your email?

Lol Candra you are too funny! What are fiber wraps?

Reggie i desprately need your chicken recipe, the one you made when we all came over a while back!

This morning I was 229!!!!! 4 more lbs to goal. So I called and talked to the apt. mgr and she said she will put my file on Dr. Chu's desk but to make sure that I go down and get an official weigh in to prove I'm at goal when it happens. I have someone I meet recently who was sleeved by Dr. Chu and she said that she was in pain too... Kinda scary :scared2:

Reggie, Candra, to know me is to love me :scared2: just keeping it real....

Candra that's funny you mentioned the Doctors. In the last day or so I found out John Daly the golfer has the band and now the coach for the NY Jets got it the other day. I guess it's only key if you follow sports. Just seems like it's all I hear on the TV lately. Really getting popular.

Nicolie how ya doing? missing the hubby? Guess you'll have to honeymoon all over.

Yeah John warm up to Dr Who for Nicolie.... hehehe

Today has been a much better day food wise for me. I'm slowly getting off the carbs this week. My exercise has been real good I walked the bridge Sat, Sun & Mon. Only thing is I may have tweaked my achilles heel. I can hardly put pressure on it. We'll see how it goes tomorrow.

Heather, I eat in front of the computer all the time it's the only thing that will slow me down.

ok my food for today...

B=DECALF coffee yippie!!, laughing cow light cheese wedge

L=inside of one soft taco

s=handfull of cashews (not so good)

D=got a pc of grilled chicken warming in the oven.

Doesn't seem right that I'm baking cupcakes while watching The Big.gest Lo.ser. Aaaaand I didn't go to the gym tonight either. I've just not felt well, gotta kick that though! I'm going tomorrow night no matter what!

I bought a pork tenderloin the other day and marinated half in teriyaki and grilled it(served with brown rice and veggies) and the other half in the costco pesto (ala Reggie's chicken) and baked it. Yum-o. All I can say. I even have just the right amount for leftovers.

I'm excited about Saturday! I have friends in the area so not only do I get my band ladies fix, but I get to see them too!

Candra- about Dr. Oz... lolz. It's all in the fiber wraps! Do you think that'll get me from a 20/22 to a 12 in 12 weeks? 'Cause I'd be down with that!

Do you guys remember when Angel talked about the triathalon she did? It was the Tri Girl Tri (love the name) and I had decided that I'd do it this year, even if it's as a relay team. I just looked up the date and it's the same day as my friend's wedding! Booo. Maybe I should be training now for next year's! That swim thing scares me. I also will be doing a 5k on 7/4 again this year, my goal is to run the whole thing. (Don't tell Liz, I bet she'll say I'm too fat to run) I've been getting the urge to run more, so I take that as a great sign.

Gotta go, my oven dinged. (So bad... I know, but I'm making the cupcakes so we don't have to move so much food! I'm making dinner from the stuff in the freezer and other things I've stocked up on. Hope to be in the new house in under 1 month... Yay!) Oh, and I'm sending the cupcakes in to work with the fella and to my office too.

Oh, Heather, if the fiber wraps worked I'd be down to try em but you know there was alot more to what she did than that - again, Dr. Oz never quite divulges ALL the info - like, what happens when you're an addict - I never hear him dealing with the mental part of it. I wish that show "the swan" was still around - sure would love to be a swan! Moving is no fun Heather so i don't envy you that but owning your own home and being the only ones responsible to fix the roof, the blumbing, etc... Is just such a joy LMAO

Ash, I could use ALL of Reggies recipes - sure would be nice to know how to cook - then maybe I wouldn't be eating such junk!

Hey reggie - Have you ever been to Teavana there is Sac? I was doing a little research for bridezilla's tea party and i think I'm about to be a searious tea drinker - they have a Rooibos tea that is Tiramisu flavored. What? Tiramisu without all the carbs & calories - and if I'm correct, Rooibos tea's are Decaf and good for you! Woo Hoo - I say we need to make a trip over there.

JES - that's what i love so much about you - so keep it real my friend - lemme tell you that I KNOW i've put on a few the way I've been eating lately but I have yet to step on the scale - chicken! Anyway, when I tried on my body magic and couldn't get it closed I freaked out - I thought WTF?? Have I really gained that much weight. I was near tears when I looked at the tag and realized it was 2 sizes smaller that it was suppose to me LMAO. I was truly bout to pass a brick if you know what I mean.

My sometimers is kickin in - can't remember what I wanted to say

I'll tell you this, I tried/am trying to eat a piece of the almond bread the my friggin neighbor insisted on bringing me but Rambo ain't havin it - he's back!

Tomorrow I'm back on my 4 Protein mini meals - the bread is goin in the garbage, all the cake & rice I got from Reggie is sadly gone so no more carbs for me - i may even start working out again hahahaha

Good Morning everyone!

I can't believe it's been a month since John and I had surgery. In retrospect it's gone pretty quickly for me. Yesterday was my first day official day of soft foods. I overate at two meals. lunch was 3 oz of meatloaf that wanted to come back up for about 4 hours. dinner was 3 oz of tilapia. That was too dense as well. I guess today I have to get out that 1/4 cup measuring cup.

I'm down 18.2 pounds for the month. I'm definitely not complaining. Weight loss has slowed to around 2.5 pounds a week. I've never lost that much before, so no complaints. Working 8 hours a day, I haven't had much energy for exercise so I'm hoping to change that in month 2.

John, I know you're going to blow me out of the Water with 30 pounds or something phenomenal. Good luck going back to work this week!

Good luck on decarbing to those of you that are on that path!

Have a fun day!

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!
