I feel blah today too! I read some for school then fell asleep on the couch for a few hours. Now I just feel funky. Ugh.

My day was packed of course. Spent most of it steaming my floors. Wood floors are a pain in the butt. Then we had a family dinner; it was nice to see all of my out of town relatives. Tomorrow we are having another family function so I have to do the bridge early morning.

Donna I meant to call you in the car this afternoon but it completely slipped my mind.

Go Tamra, you may be banded in October.

Hey all - just a quick check in before tomorrow - I had spent ALL day yesterday checking out wineries, wine tasting, mexican food, chocolate - hope I'm not over my limit LOL.

Cleaning and doing laundry today - FYI Jes, not a good idea to take the milk of magnesia then head out to Walmart for some last minute items LOL.

Just wanted to check in to let you all know that I haven't chickened out yet. hahaha - I'll check in with you later.

I'm so excited for you Candra! I was also first in the morning and was there at 6:30 and out by 2pm. I had to wait a while to do the barium swallow and slept in the wheelchair in the hallway until they wheeled me in. It was really pathetic looking actually, haha!

GOOD LUCK! You're gonna have us all thinking amazingly positive thoughts for ya.

Speaking of Walking....

I would like to invite all of you to our Annual Mercy Ministries 5K, in Lincoln on Saturday, Oct. 10th! This is the 3rd year I will be doing it, it is a local fun Family Run/Walk, only 5K at 9:00 in the morning.

Please come to walk, cheer on or just even hang out that Saturday morn! Since we will probably be done by 11:00 AM, would like to also invite you all to a BANDSTERS BRUNCH at my home afterwards! Thought this would be a great way to get together, activity and brunch, with families!

The walk is really a blast, growing each year, one of my son Roller blades it, hubby and other son run it, I walk it...many strollers, little kids all kinds of family to enjoy!

If we have enough, perhaps we can do a team? PLEASE Personal message me, as soon as possible, if you would like to plan on it, if not for the 5K, just even the brunch...(you can start cooking the eggs, hehehe). See the link below...

P.S. Let me know if registration fee ($20.) is too much. :)

With u movin' mamas inspiring me, I am calling this my

ComputerChair 2 10/10/09 5K, in 30 days!

Donna that sounds like a blast! Hey if I can travel to Lake Tahoe to do a 10K, I sure should oughta be able to travel to Lincoln for a 5K, right? Maybe I can l hook up with my NEWLY BANDED buds Candra & Jes on the way & carpool like we did for Reggie's! They will be SO ready by then - can't wait!!

Candra glad you are calm . . it was all just surreal for me once they got me in - which was within like 2 minutes of arrival - I just kept sitting there in the "spa" with warm towels and fluids and SMILING! I was SO excited :-)

So I went out "Nicoling" today, shopping for clothes & trying them on (no pics tho), and you know our girl is really onto something! I am TOTALLY motivated now! I was like looking at these little holiday dresses & trying on the 12s, of course they all fit and I was thrilled but then I thought, wait a minute . . . I won't be a 12 at Christmas! So I stared trying on some 10s, and you know some of them almost fit! So I said to myself, self, your mini-goal is going to be to get into a 10 by your birthday, which is toward the end of October. Do-able! And THEN I started thinking, well if I can get down to a 10 by my birthday, where might I be at Christmas 2 months later?? Pray tell, could I be in an . . . . 8???? Isn't that was comes after 10? An 8?? BUT THATS TINY!! WOW this is WEIRD.

So I actually bought a "birthday" outfit (both pieces on clearance at Penney's for 4.99) that's a 10 pants and M sweater, the sweater kinda fits now but will look better when I'm down another 10 lbs. The slacks are a true-to-size 10, I need to lose another 1.5 inches or so off my hips to fit into them (I have 12s in the same brand/style that fit me great now but didn't exactly fasten 6 weeks ago!)

So my clothes-goals may be unrealistic, but I now have faith that I WILL get there! Thanks Nicole :) for the motivation!!

Band of Buddies, Banded Buddies, depends on how "out there" we want to be! You pick the team name, Cap'n Donna! :)

I can speed-walk a whole 5K now, 12.5 minute miles and I'm shooting for 12 minute miles . . . that's truly amazing considering that when I started walking my goal was to be able to do a single 20-minute mile without stopping :-) Aren't our bodies amazing things?

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
