I am not done losing yet but at 39 years old, I started out with a BMI just over 40 and in six months have lost around 75% of my excess weight.

I needed to lose 136 lbs to get from my starting weight to the highest weight that gives me a normal BMI. I am less than 6 mos out from surgery and have lost 86 lbs which is 63% of that. And I'm still losing. My surgeon said I have surpassed the 'one year averages'. The thing is with those averages is they are just that. Just as many people do better than the 'average' as do worse.

Ya know, this is a really great way to think about things. I've been hovering at the same weight for a while and every now and then i start getting frustrated that i'm not working hard enough at this, but when i think of the fact that i have lost 88% of my excess weight i feel pretty darn good about myself! In my head i may have about 20 lbs to go, but truth is i really only have about 7lbs to go before i am at 100% excess weight lost and a normal BMI. 7 lbs is nothing! I can do that! Even if it takes me another 9 months, i will chip away at those 7 lbs (and hopefully past that)!

I went from 225 to 171.5 today. I want to get to 150. Does that make a 71% loss of the weight I want to lose? Am I doing the math right? If so holy crap, that makes me happy.

You have to figure out at what weight someone your height needs to be at to be in the normal weight category (to put you in a BMI of, at the most, 24.9). You can do that here Calculate your BMI - Standard BMI Calculator.

Take that weight and subtract it from your starting weight to figure out how many pounds overweight you were. Thenfigure out what percentage of that you have lost. That will tell you how much of your excess weight was lost.

I am banded just about a year. I stopped losing after about 6 months, and I lost about 62 lbs. I have another 25 to go, but it's been very difficult, so right now I'm working on maintaining.

If you go by the BMI charts, I need to lose like another 10lbs to be in the normal range but I've far exceeded my personal goal and am pretty happy where I'm at. I think I'm in the 90-93% lost category.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

Without really trying, I'm still losing 1-2lbs per month.

I'm not sure exactly where I'll end up. I'm pretty sure I'll easily lose 7-10lbs with a TT so all the extra skin kinda throws my numbers off.

Like Emily, I'm 5 months post op. I lost 10 lbs the first week post op and then only about 3 lbs a month after that. I got my 5th fill to take me to 5 ccs in an 8 cc band a week and a 1/2 ago and have lost 5.5 lbs since then. I can eat solids and swallow just fine but I do believe I'm finally at my sweet spot since a cup of food satisfies me and keeps me satisfied for hours. I don't count calories but I think since my last fill, I've been averaging anywhere beween 650 - 900 calories a day based on the type and amount of food I'm eating.

I stopped exercising a couple of months ago because of a knee injury to give it a break and let it recover. It's fine now but I haven't started back on the exercising again. I am committing to do that starting tomorrow!

I am about 85%, My goal is 10more lbs. from 206 to 144, 10 more lbs puts me in the top of the normal range. I am short and muscular build as well went from a 16/18 down to a 6/8. More butt needs to go, tummy needs a little more tightness. I am 11 months out. These last 2 months just seem like a looong Plateau. I am very patient, in for another fill on monday , currently have 7.0 in a 10cc. There is only so much time in the day to exercise, 2 hours 6 x week is all I can do right now, it is the addiction in my life, better than food I guess. kudos to us all, I have seem some on here that are not very patient and give up and start eating just because the scale does not move fast enough. This is a long lifetime commitment, hang in there!!:wink2:

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
