BAck again.

I haven't had any ice cream since January except for last night and thank goodness I pb'd on the nuts or I would have devoured the whole thing. BUT we were at friends and she worked so hard on the meal, I wasn't going to say... ummm nope can't have ice cream. I know, that would have been the bandster thing to do, but I wasn't feeling it at that moment.

As for the pop tarts... I had forgotten all about them!! I'm in my tuna/soy nuts/orange rut and have been for months. Even Ethan will have a few bites of tuna with Gramma when he gets here in the morning.

I'm being lazy this morning. When I get dressed, it will be for the flute gig and that means white blouse, black dress pants. So I'm putting that off as long as I can. We'll go to the bike store at noon and see if he's there so I can buy my bike.

Glad the corned beef recipe worked for you, Michelle. I loved it, and I don't usually like corned beef. Course I pb'd most of it, but hey, it tasted good going down!

We're into single digits till our Hawaii cruise. I'm all packed except for the last minute things. I can't believe a week from Saturday I'll be in Hawaii!!! I'll have to pinch myself to make sure it's real.

Off to get my first liter of Water started.

It's a heat wave here today, PamELa.. 38 degrees so far. But it was 60 degrees last night at 11 when I went in the hot tub!!

Aren't you special Pam!!! It's 70's here, and my hair is having a crap day. It looked super cute last night, but it never holds up for the next day :sneaky:

We met the pediatrician we're looking into last night. I thought he was really weird--had a weird creepy smile, talked really slow, and wasn't very social..I kept having to stir up the conversation to avoid the akward silences in the interview, but he comes recommended and I don't really care! He doesn't over-prescribe antibiotics and his take on immunizations sounds right. They have a 24-hour answering (it's him & his wife;both peds) service, and have unscheduled appointments reserved every morning in case your kid gets sick..they also have a well side & a sick side when you come in, so the 2 don't mix.

My arms are super fat again.. I saw them in the mirror driving to work today and realized how big they've gotten..all cottage-cheesy looking. Yuck!! 2 months till fill.. counting down.

LOL, I was just spouting off about the hair. It is too long and hasn't looked good for a week now. I go next week, but really need him sooner. I did a good blowdry is all!

Yes it is 90 here...and I work inside a classroom, in the middle hall w/ NO WINDOWS. So...so much for that.

I have a butt load of work on diss tonight. I am taking tomorrow off and driving into La Verne to drop my bound copies, $, application for graduation, cap and gown stuff, etc! So I need to seriously polish. I AM STARTING TO FEEL PRESSURE...wish I didn't have my second job now. Oh well...I worked until 9:30 grading papers last night so I could have today free for diss! I WANT A TROPICAL VACAY LIKE HAYDEE!

OXOX

Good morning girls~

Thought I'd check in real quick while Kinsey's bacon cooks.

Not sure what we are doing today---maybe the park.

Took a chance last night and took some Ibuprofin. I mean I am still 100% unfilled. I have nerve pain in my leg. Back when they did my hysterectomy, they had so much work to do, and it took so long (over 8 hours) that somehow the nerves that send sensation to the outer thigh area on my left leg were damaged. I do not feel much from the knee area up, but only on the outside. They can poke me lightly with pins, and nothing, I have no idea they are doing it, yet to push on it with pressure, it is really sensitive, and when it gets tired, I get zingers in it. They were going crazy with the shooting pain last night, and I was so tired, and knew without help, I would not sleep---so took it. Did not have any refluxing issues with it, thank goodness!

Glad to hear your sisters are mending Suzanne.

Pamela---wow great weather, AND great hair? ??

Our weather is supposed to be in the 70 range which is wonderful. But I am really sick of my hair!!! Problem is I had so many surgeries last year, it is REALLY thin, and still just falls out so much and so easy, I am paranoid about processing too much!

TracyK--I enjoyed our exchange too. Pamela is right, your weight does not define you. I understand completely wanting to at least be back where you were....I want that too. But for some reason I think I cannot do that on my own, and am waiting for my fill to be the miracle, and we ALL KNOW better. I have lost 30-40 pounds on my own, many a time, I just have not found my motivation. I find one excuse after another....Manda being sick, and company I don't want only being the latest....

My Dr. is going to be really disappointed, and have lots of advice----which I know already. I wish he could live my life for awhile! Have the threat of layoffs hanging etc.....bet he wouldn't be so smug!

Enjoy your Grady time Judy!

Laura, I am soooooo white right now, everything looks cottage cheesy! And this time, I am actually gaining some weight in my legs, which I am not minding too much!!!

Better go check the bacon----so I can cook her an egg. Y'all take care will see ya later.

Kat

Hey everyone.

I'm home a resting for a while. I'm having an early dinner with one of the girls from our boot class, so I had an early lunch of 1/4 of an orange, yogurt and a handfull of peanuts.

I went to the hospital this morning and my sister was just sitting on the side of the bed. Looked like she had been crying and that she had a bad night. Come to find out she didn't have any Breakfast, not even any coffee. So I got her untangled from her IV and got her in the bathroom. She took a sponge bath and I got her hair washed for her. I changed the sheets on her bed and got her all set up. I called down to the kitchen and ordered her some food. She was resting comfortably when I left. She is the one that has a "Genetic Blood Clotting Disorder". So when my little Sis had me look at her leg and the spot was warm and very painful I took her in to have it looked at. The Doc said we did the rght thing by bringing her in. With our older sisters history, we just can't take a chance. If it had been a clot she could be gone in an instance. She's going to make an appointment with the regular doc to see what is causing it.

Thank You all so much for all your thoughts and prayers. I'm blessed to have such good friends.

Got my feet propped up and waiting on the washer to finish so I can put the stuff into the dryer. I need to not let things pile up while I'm busy.

Judy, I had already made my corned beef when I saw your recipe. I will try it next time I make one. Which will be soon. I always stock up on them while they are on sale.

Everyone have a great day. Hugs.

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

      2. Selina333

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

    • LeighaTR

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!
