Looking for some advice

Recommended Posts

Hi all,new to this place and was looking for some advice for my girlfriend. She had a lap band installed last year and lost 13 stone. The only problem is that she now seems in constant pain with the main pressure on the left hand side of the stomach. She is having to dose herself up every day with painkillers just to get through the day and the docs seem to be at a loss to explain what it could be.Anyone got an idea hwhat it could b please?

Sorry Serpico, I have zero idea what that pain could be. Seems like if the pain is that intense, she should stay after her doctor to keep running tests until they find out what's going on.

Did they check to nake sure her band did not slip or her port didn't flip?

Thanks for the feedback. Not sure what has happened but she goes back to the hospital this week for some sort of tests.Maybe the will give us some clearer picture of what is going on.

I would hope that she would get an MRI or something and if her band slipped get it fixed asap. I hope she is feeling better soon. Just be supportive and help her through this, she will be better soon.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
