Hey all i was just wondering for all of you that has been banded how long did it take for you to go back to work? I have a job that i can take about a week off but more than that i am looking at it not happening. I know with any surgery there is always a weight limit to lift and i was just wondering how long it took you all to get back to work? Any info will be a big help. Thanks

I had surgery on a thurs and I took two weeks off. I have a physical job of lifting patients and tugging. If my job was not physical, I could have went back on the following monday.

I have a desk job and I had the surgery on TH and was back to work on Monday.

The hardest thing for me was feeling hungry after the surgery, much more than any discomfort from the surgery itself.

Good luck to you!

Desk job here too and I had surgery on a Friday and went back to work on Tuesday. I could have gone in on Monday but I'd already taken the day off because I wasn't sure what to expect. I felt fine.

I was working as security patrol. Mostly driving, but definitely some walking and dealing with people. 12-hour shift. I had surgery Thursday morning and was back to work Sunday night. It was pure hell, but had to be done. Would have been a little easier on me to wait until Monday night.

Also a desk job... had surgery Thurs. Definitely felt up to working on Monday, but had taken that off. I believe I went back the Weds after the surgery.

Had surgery 11am on Friday; back to my desk job on Monday. Back to walking home from work (about 35 min) on Tuesday.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
