Hi,

I have been banded on Sept 11th, '08 in Turkey. Currently i have lost 20 kilos (aprox. 44 pounds) I have only seen my doctor once after surgery and did not have any fills yet. My doc told me to take some time, go on with my life and try not think about the band. I am going to see him next week.

I have had psychological problems rather than pain. I use to have really bad headaches like brain-freeze 2 weeks after my surgery and it lasted for a month. I did not know the reason and never went to doctor but during that time i was worrying about the band so much so i am pretty sure it was psychological. I did have a check-up though and everything looked fine. I guess since i am a control freak, the band was not easy for me. Since there is something in my body that i cannot control, it scares me that it could do smthg bad to me. I eat fine, since i am scared all the time, i dont eat much at all. I guess thats how i lost the 44 pounds without any fills.

These days i am planning to get fills but i am scared that i might throw up after a meal or i would feel some pain.

I wish some day these scary thoughts will go away and i ll feel like i used to..

Is there a psychologist nearby that you would be able to see for some help with the feelings of worry you are experiencing? If you remember to follow the bandster rules eg. eat slowly, chew chew chew, don't drink with your meal and listen to your body and stop eating before you fill over-full you are less likely to experience the type of vomiting that we do however there is always a risk of it happening. If it does happen you will be ok.

I wish you all the best.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
