Hello Again..long time since I've been here

Recommended Posts

I'm so glad a few of us check in here regularly. I had a dr. appt. a couple weeks ago and the dr. took out some of my fill. I knew I had been tight for awhile, but he took me down quite a bit. I am eating more then I should be, and I will be glad to go back on the 9th of March. This band is indeed fickle. I wonder if there is truly a "sweet spot" or just plain good restriction. I am going to NYC in May for a vacation. Your trip to Korea sounds like it will be fun. Is your daughter's family military. My SIL spent 2 tours over there unaccompanied. He brought me back some beautiful things, including I mink blanket that I cherish.

Check back in and let me know how you are doing. Let's keep this thread going if we can.

Skittles

Yes - my SIL is Army. They have been in country for about 1 1/2 years, will be reassigned this summer. It looks like they will be posted in the States. Army life is old hat to SIL, but DD is new to the whole thing - they married in April 2006 and she moved from successful career to Army Wife. She likes it and is very happy being fulltime wife and mommy. They miss home a lot - having babies makes a difference. DH and I are looking forward to the visit - but not the long flight! From our door to theirs will be almost 24 hours with a few hours of layovers in Denver and San Francisco, and then a 10 hour flight to Seoul. I hear some people have tighter restriction during and after flying - have you experienced that? I'm a little concerned about it.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
