I remember that feeling all to well bubz. I cried a couple times during that stage. I wish I could make it easier but all I can offer ((((((hugs)))))) and remind you to take it one day at a time and remember that it is only temporary. I promise you that before long you will see that this has all been well worth it!

I've been there and with this last fill i'm back again. Very thin people won't eat the high calorie stuff, thats why they don't need the band and we do.

My husband brought home roasted chicken yesterday, I had been looking through the liquid stage part of the forum and was encouraged to try blending the chicken like a Soup and eat it. Heaven!!! Liquid stage just doesn't mean shakes!

Coming up with other recipes does help. I know that is so hard to deal with. I know that I broke down a few times. I know that my DH was ready to have me put down. Stay strong. It will get better.

I went to the health food store and was shocked at how many wonderful cream Soups they had. Carrot and ginger (my favorite), butternut squash, cream of portabella mushroom, roasted red pepper and Tomato, tomato basil, cream of brocolli, and creamed corn. I was in heaven. See if there is anything you like at your local health food store. they had some decent smoothies too.

You know, I just had to comment real quick. I remember thinking to myself, "Hey - I'm a grown up. I've been through boot camp. I have had not one but two children and one of them completely natural. I CAN do this liquid stage standing on my head!"

Cue to about 4 days later. My husband is starting to cook dinner for him and the kids and I am at the end of my rope, so I decide to take a shower. Some hot Water therapy for me and I don't have to watch them eat. I get done and open the door and the smell of garlic and olive oil waft to me and I start BAWLING!! And I am so mad at my husband. I yelled at him, how could he do that to me?? He knew how hard a time I was having. Blah blah. I went to bed that night and cried myself to sleep. My poor husband was completely bewildered. The next day he made me come up with a list of things he could make and how he could make them that wouldn't upset me!!:)

And I know you keep getting the same advice, but that is because it is good advice - This too, shall pass. This phase will not last forever. And the next thing you know, you'll be one the wise lapbanders on here giving advice to the newbies!!

BTW - it seems like forever ago I was in that phase and I have lost a total of 50 lbs - you'll be here soon and it will feel great - just keeping thinking about that!!! You can do it!!:)

Hi Bubz

I hope ur day has got a bit better! Just to encourage u really, each stage seems like forever but it is worth it! My doc said the definition of 'fluid' is anything u can drink thru a straw so think of some yummy stuff u can reat urself to.. nice fruity smoothies, juices? u'll lose a load of weight on the liquid stage so it'll give u a really good boost in the right direction and makethe boredom worth it.

Ive had my band coming up to 5 months and although ive been pleased with it from the beginning its only now that Im really getting in the swing of things after having regular fills for the last 4months. I love it!!

I really wish u well and every success!

Julia

We had fun making homemade stock during my liquid phases. Just this weekend we made and strained homemade Scottish oxtail soup! SERIOUS yum, no sense of deprivation there at ALL. Get on recipezaar, make some homemade chicken stock or beef or vegetable. It tastes WAY better than anything in a can!

Ummm . . . my doctor, in a video he did about band slippage, warned that there is NOTHING you can do to chicken that makes it liquid.

I suppose baby food is technically a liquid, but liquid meat really doesn't appeal too much.

It does pass, but is no fun when you are mired in the middle of it.

I had to find other things to keep my mind occupied, like walking or reading a book, I took a ton of bubble baths with different scents and candles, anything to think of something else.

It is true, you make it through . . . and it is so worth it in the end. I think sticking with the liquid diet stage is one of the reasons I am at goal now in that I needed to struggle to get my mind focused so that I could make a real go of banded life. Even if it was not needed for healing, it would have been worth it.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
