Dec 19 band date

Recommended Posts

My date is the 23rd of December and I'm so excited and nerveous.

I am finding that I'm staying glued to the board and seeing how everyone's progress is going. I'll be there soon...in the land of the banded and lossing weight.

Hi Guys!! I will also be banded on Dec. 19th. I've been on the pre op diet for 1 week and realized today I havent been doing it right!! Arrrggghhh. So, today I will make sure I follow it to the "T" I hope I havent messed anything up. Is there a certain amount a weight you need to lose before surgery?? Does anyone know??

Hi All, just a note to wish you well. things are going smoothly so far. Went back to work 9 days after surgery ( could have gone back earlier but needed the surgeon to sign a release before my employer would let me come back. A bit sore at times; when I have done too much, my body lets me know. yestercday ran errands and wrapped and mailed packages for 4 hours - was a bit much.:tongue2:

hi scorpio, I too am being banded on december 19th. I have been on my liquid diet since december fifth. Its been going very well, not as hard as I thought it would be, its day nine for me only a few more days till we are banded. I wish you the best of luck. In regards to weight ... its not weight they want you to lose... the purpose is to shrink your liver so when they put the band in its not in the way of the stomach... gl 2 u

Hello All! I am so glad to be able to say that I am now 2 days post op and everything is going great. I am having a bit of gas pains in my left shoulder, but other that that it has been a breeze. Still on Clear liquids for today, then get to start full liquids tomorrow.

Hey Sue

Sorry I haven't posted since surgery on the 19th. Everything went great. I had no gas pains anywhere, just really sore. I think my second day was my worst as far as pain. The place where the port is probably the one that hurts still. It feels like it is pulling. I can stand up straight and don't have to walk stooped over which is a blessing. I was truly blessed with my surgery. No driving for 2 weeks which I really don't understand. liquid diet is ok because I was already on it pre op for two weeks. Everything is good. I go back Dec. 30 to get the stitches out. I wish all of you a very Merry Christmas. I hope to figure out how to do a ticker on here. LOL:thumbup:

I was banded on the 17th and feel pretty good. I've eaten a bit, I'm not too hungry, so I've been supplementing with slim fast just to get the Protein in. I'm on soft food now, and the Magic Bullet is just great for getting things soft. Egg salad never tasted so good! I went out yesterday to do some grocery shopping and such, and did a bit too much, but I'm doing well. Glad everyone is having good experiences!

Southe1010,

How are you? I was banded on 19th and am doing OK. It is suprising the difference in post op orders from docs. Mine said the only limitation we had was if it hurts don't do it!! Of course, I am taking it easy. Thought I was up to shopping yesterday so decided to finish some last minute Xmas, WRONG!!! I made it to the first store, stood in line for my purchase, and decided I might not be doing that good!

I am still having trouble with gas pains in left shoulder...will be glad when that leaves!

Also, I am having a "craving" as I did while pregnant!! I would give anything for some garlic toast!! Is that bizarre or what? I know I won't give into that, but I wonder how long before that goes away. Has anyone else experienced this???

Southe1010,

The port site was the most tender for me , too. In a few days it will be better. Found as i did more, it would start to ache ( which meant it was time to rest. ) It does get better . I was using only liquid Tylenol by the 6th day. I went back to work 9 days post op. i felt fine , but trying to play catch-up at work and deal with Christmas was a bit much. Right now, it looks Like i have a bulge in my stomach, but its less than right after surgery.

Hope everyone had a good Christmas. I was pleasantly surprised that I was not tempted by everything that was on the table! I did have a spoon of dressing at lunch and then a spoon of sweet potato at dinner, and it tasted sooooo good!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
