New Year Challenge

Recommended Posts

Congratulations on the great losses!

I haven't posted much lately and have, as they say, fallen off the wagon, I've gained over the holidays despite having had a fill on Dec. 23rd!. I have made some very bad choices - holiday treats and chocolates have been my downfall - its now time to get back on the wagon and to get serious about the weightloss. This is much harder than I thought!

Congrats to everyone on their losses!

I started at 224. My goal was 214. And I made it down to 202. November and December were big loss months for me! I know that's going to slow down but as long as it keeps going south I'll remain happy.

Happy New Year everyone!

Brad

Just wanted to quickly come on and update that I've reached goal! 181lbs to 169lbs before New Years and Im 168lbs plus change as of today!

Good luck to everyone still striving for goal! You can do it! And even if you don't, you're down however much you've lost, and that's a success in it's own right!

Congrats Lellow! I missed by goal by 4 lbs)= But, I have to look on the bright side I didn't gain during the holidays and I still did lose a few lbs....It's a new year!:)

Hi Guys and Gals,

I issued this challenge and then dropped the ball. I have been fighting lots of "demons" lately and I did end up gaining. From my fill on 11/4/08 until my fill today I gained but that is going to change. By New Year's 2010, I WILL BE below 175.

Thanks to all of you for your support and hard work and congratulations to everyone who gave it their best shot.

I am going to stay closer to this group and use it for the support I need.

Thanks for all the congrats everyone. Sadly though, by the 31st of Dec, I had gained 1.7 pounds (from the Christmas festivities and lack of good food choices) and therefore was 0.8 of a pound over goal on New Year's Day.

Since then I haven't gained or lost, so am back at 169.8lbs.

I honestly tried to make good food choices, but often would get to someone's house for dinner and have not one serving of vegetables on the table! Almost everything was fried, and almost all the dishes were carb-based (rice or noodles, as per Asian food staples). I never realised how much fatty and calorie-loaded food my family ate.

My 2 and a half year old son also refused to be babysat by anyone, and no one was keen to watch him for me, so getting structured exercise was impossible. I managed just one trip to the gym in all 10 days.

I also broke a toenail right to the quick, and it throbbed for 5 days, so couldn't wear my sneakers for a quick run around the block, even!

So all in all, this trip was a write-off as far as trying to lose. What I'm completely amazed by is that all I've gained is less than 2 pounds.

Anyhoo, I'm home now, and I'm back on track, and the scales will NOT be going UP again anytime soon!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
