Port-area pain when walking??

Recommended Posts

I'm asking here first because I'm still trying to figure this one out - not sure whether to ask my lapband doc or my regular GP.

Often, when I walk in the morning or afternoon, I will get an excrutiating pain in my lower abdomen, just at the waistline on the right side. It only seems to be triggered by walking - I do crunches, weight work, doesn't seem to bother it. It's like something is trying to claw its way into my belly.

Since it happens when I'm moving I'm leaning toward the fact that it's a muscle-related pain, and I know the hip bone is connected to ... something , but what the heck??

Anyone had the same thing happen? It is only since the surgery, which makes me think it's lapband related, but who knows.

TIA,

Lisa

When I am walking or jogging I sometimes have pain on the right side (port side). I think this is due to the fact that the port was sewn into the muscle and when we are working that muscle really hard it will hurt like any other muscle. I asked my doctor about this and he said that the occassional pain was normal. If you are having pain all the time it wouldn't hurt to ask your doctor about it:confused:

I agree, I have the same issues with the same area and I beleive it is where it is sewn into the muscle...You would think they would find a better place..LOL

It is frustrating, but I am hoping it is nothing more than that....

I have actually asked my doctor about it and he said that because scar tissue is less flexible than regular tissue it is more uncomfortable during workouts due to the stretching and mulipulation that is going on. He said it should lessen over time.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
