Discomfort/pain and bad reflux after fill...help??

Recommended Posts

I have had my last fill this Friday and am experiencing discomfort in my abdomen. I had a tight fill before but NEVER felt discomfort...just a lot of restriction. I have also never experienced reflux. I have eaten Soup, a few pretzels, ice cream, and pudding and it goes down ok. I guess I am scared I had a slip but never felt a thing or had an issue until this last fill. Has anyone had discomfort just from a fill or should I suspect something is wrong?

I just had my 2nd fill about 2 wks ago and I am very slow about getting back to eating solid food, but I have noticed that I am having some issues eating anything more solid than Soup or oatmeal. I kinda dont want to go back for a removal of Fluid, cuz I know when you start losing the weight the band will loosen up. I also know I started back on Celebrex for arthritis in my back, so I am not sure if I am having some acid issues due to that either. I am leaning toward the Celebrex being the issue rather than the fill and I may need to cut out the meds, grrr cuz they really help me...on top of having pain still from having had a softball size tumor removed from my lower back...

I usually have a lot of discomfort in my port after a fill, usually for a day or two.

Are you feeling discomfort where your port is? Or in your stomach? Your band might be too tight...

I am not sure who you are asking - but I dont have any pain in either area...just been having problems keeping solid food down...sigh.

I was directing that to the person who posted the thread...but it sounds like your band might be too tight. Maybe you should see about getting some Fluid taken out, sometimes a small amount can make all the difference.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
